Position Summary

The Research Tech II will work in the Wellbeing and Emotion across the Lifespan Lab (the “WELLab”) directed by Dr. Emily Willroth within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. They will contribute to NIH-funded research, as well as research projects supported by department funds. This is a time-limited position of up to one year.


Primary responsibilities include conducting literature searches and summarizing relevant literature for research projects, creating and updating data dictionaries, conducting statistical analyses in R, and assisting with manuscripts. In addition, the Research Tech may assist with recruiting and scheduling research participants, interacting with participants in laboratory or online sessions, and overseeing undergraduate research assistants.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to data management and statistical analyses for an NIH-funded research project under the supervision of Dr. Willroth.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize literature for an NIH-funded research project under the supervision of Dr. Willroth.
  • Contribute to conference presentations and/or manuscripts for an NIH-funded research project under the supervision of Dr. Willroth.
  • Recruit and schedule research participants; correspond with participants; run participants in laboratory sessions; payparticipants; oversee part-time undergraduate research assistants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

.Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field (e.g., cognitive science or neuroscience) and 1 year of experience conducting human subjects research (e.g., as a research assistant) in a research lab in psychology or a related field.
  • Interest in understanding links between wellbeing and health in older adults.
  • Knowledge of and experience with implementing open science practices (e.g., open data, open materials, preregistration).
  • Fluency in the use of R for data cleaning and statistical analyses.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent professionalism and trustworthiness, including communicativeness, the ability to deliver on agreed-upon tasks, and respect for research participants and scientific integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills, including with research assistants, older adults, and community participants.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, resourcefulness, and persistence when faced with new challenges.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience conducting research in psychology or a related field.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor degree or equivalent years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.

R06-H

Salary Range

$16.59 - $25.92 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
