Responsibilities

Several postdoctoral positions are currently open in Prof. Suman Bose's laboratory at the Mayo Clinic Arizona, within the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Immunology. The research conducted in Prof. Bose's lab is primarily focused on advancing cell-based therapies for the treatment of human diseases. This involves exploring the intersection of biomaterial science, cellular engineering, and immunology. 

For this particular position, the successful candidate will be involved in developing bioelectronic cell encapsulation devices for the delivery of protein biologics. Additionally, they will conduct preclinical studies using small and large animal models. Collaboration with teams at the Mayo Clinic Rochester and the other universities will also be an important aspect of this role.

A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program. A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic. Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in biomedical engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, immunology, biology or any related field.
  • Extensive hands-on research experience in one of these broad areas is preferred:
    • Bioelectronic device development: Circuit design, bioelectronic sensors development
    • Immune engineering: Design and delivery of immunotheprautics for inflammatory diseases
    • Cell encapsulation and biomaterials. 
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture is highly preferred
  • Experience with using small animal models is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
  • At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
