Safety & Security Manager

Job summary
Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department Provides maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property, and the surrounding community Serves as the Centers designated Safety and Occupational Health Officer

Responsibilities
• Assists students in adjusting to Center life • Provides supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and acts as a positive role model and mentor • Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with local law enforcement and Emergency Management Services • Facilitates and assists in the coordination of required Emergency Drills • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and assigned work areas • Supervises assigned staff and conducts performance evaluations • Enforces all laws, rules, and regulations • Performs building security and safety checks • Receives and investigates complaints, documents incident reports • Establishes and communicates safety, security, and fire prevention policies • Contacts students who have been arrested and obtains necessary forms signed • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with State and local emergency response organizations • Attends required training • Enforces and facilitates the Centers Safety & Occupational Health plan • Performs other assigned duties
Requirements
• Minimum: Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience • Two years broad-based civilian, military security or fire prevention and safety experience, one of which was in a supervisory capacity • OSHA Safety standards background • Preferred: Masters degree preferred • Must possess a valid State drivers license • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Familiarity of Workers Compensation policies • Familiarity with the problems of underprivileged, minority groups, especially youth • Must obtain and maintain CPR/FA Certification
