We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Scientist with demonstrated experience in, Immunology, Oncology and Cancer Immunology to join the Early Discovery Oncology Bioscience team in Gaithersburg, MD.
In this role you will make use of your experience to contribute to the advancement of innovative Immuno-Oncology research aimed to identify new targets for cancer immunotherapy and the mechanisms to overcome resistance to immunotherapy. The scientist will be responsible for designing and conducting primarily in vitro experiments to assess the function of our candidate oncology drugs and dissect the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapeutics. In addition, this position requires in vivo competency.
This laboratory-based role involves the development of methodologies, generation, and interpretation of scientific data in a highly collaborative environment experience. The group focused on Myeloid cell biology in cancer and aimed to identify the next generation immunotherapeutic agents targeting immunosuppressive myeloid cells.
In vitro skills:
Cell culture and co-culture assay systems
Cell based solution phase bioassay systems
Multiparametric Flow cytometry analysis
Basic molecular biology techniques
Basic immunological techniques
In vivo skills:
Working with different in vivo models of cancer including subcutaneous, orthotopic and transgenic/inducible models in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient animals.
Conducting in vivo pharmacology studies
Sampling, Profiling and processing of tissue samples for downstream applications.
Bring in new technologies and approaches to improve or replace existing disease model platforms that better predict clinical response
Analyze, Interpret, and present experimental results
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
BS or MS in biology, biotechnology, immunology or related field with a minimum of 1 years “hands-on” in vitro and in vivo experience.
Experience using in vitro assays with both primary and immortalized cells, and use of analytical methods such as FACS, ELISA, immuno-fluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting and others as needed
In vivo animal modeling (mouse syngeneic, autochthonous and/or xenograft cancer models) to understand the interactions of small molecules, antibodies, and other therapeutic modalities with the immune system
Preferred Skills:
Ability to work both independently as well as within project teams
Ability to lead from the bench in problem solving and in the development of innovative solutions
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to independently review, analyze, and interpret experimental results.
