The center’s current scope of work includes behavioral health, child health & well-being, health & health care financing, health in all policies, health systems transformation, long-term services & support, population & global health, and rural health. The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative research to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. The center works locally, nationally, and internationally with public and private partners to improve health and well-being.

ABOUT THIS POSITION 

This RA II will work primarily on projects within the substance use and addictive disease portfolio. Central to the center’s work in this portfolio is using a systems perspective to identify gaps in coordination between delivery systems and public agencies, focusing on sustainable solutions. Staff use a variety of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and policies. Staff expertise is often sought in assessing and informing policy, guiding and facilitating needs assessments, developing and implementing strategic plans, strategic communications, designing and implementing evaluations, assessing health equity implications, and supporting workforce development and capacity building. Current projects in the portfolio are related to evaluating and informing related policies and providing program implementation support, monitoring, evaluation, and training and technical assistance across community and residential prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery programs funded by state and federal partners. This is an Atlanta-based position.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The scope of responsibility will include these specific areas and duties but is not limited to the following:

The ideal candidate will be organized and possess strong research, writing, analytical, communication, and project management skills, including the ability to successfully manage and coordinate multiple clients, teams, budgets, deadlines, and deliverables. 

Responsibilities of this position may include:

  • Serves as a project manager and supports the management of grants and contracts.
  • Contributes to the development of creative solutions to complex health policy issues.
  • Conducts literature reviews and environmental scans and contributes to policy analysis, strategic and implementation plans, and research/evaluation projects for clients.
  • Contributes to project teams through qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, translation, visualization, and presentation of results.
  • Guides program partners through all stages of strategic and/or evaluation planning and implementation. 
  • Participates in the design, presentation, and facilitation of internal and external meetings.
  • Drafts reports, abstracts, briefing papers, presentations, and other research-related and knowledge-sharing communications.
  • Reports on GHPC projects to build key partner awareness through accepted communications channels.
  • Builds relationships with external partners including legislators, federal and state agencies, community organizations and leaders, and academic partners.
  • Attends meetings and represents the GHPC at conferences and national meetings.
  • Serves as a mentor to research associates, graduate research assistants, and students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this position is $58,099-$68,250. The position is sponsor-funded and is contingent upon funding.

***This is a regular, full-time position which involves on-campus and online duties, with job continuation dependent upon grant funding.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

  • It is expected that the candidate will have knowledge and experience in health policy, qualitative and quantitative research, working with stakeholder groups, meeting design and facilitation, strong writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Human Subjects Research guidelines and Institutional Review Board processes, Qualtrics, WebEx, SAS, SPSS, R, and Stata is preferred.
  • Networking skills and aptitude for representing GHPC with local, state, and national organizations is also desired.
  • The preferred candidate will have experience and passion in substance use research, programs, services, and policies.

The position is sponsor-funded and is contingent upon funding.
