Job Description - Sr. Quantitative Researcher, Alexa Domains

DESCRIPTION

The Alexa Domains User Research team is seeking a Sr. Quantitative Researcher to bring customer insights into every phase of the product development process, ensuring the organization has the data and inspiration needed to build compelling experiences. Alexa Domains is responsible for building Alexa capabilities that entertain, inform, organize, and empower millions of customers around the world. As a quantitative researcher on this team, you will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing quantitative research studies to inform our product development and evaluate our success. You will identify metrics for assessing quality and customer delight, determine how best to collect required data, run efficient surveying programs, investigate trends with a mixed method approach, effectively report insights to business leaders, and drive data-informed decisions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including other researchers, product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative research methods, excellent analytical skills, comfort with considerable ambiguity, and a passion for understanding user behavior. Key job responsibilities
- Work closely with product and design teams to identify research topics, and build a research roadmap; communicate and refresh on a regular basis to ensure relevancy.
- Create a deep understanding of our target customers through surveying, A/B tests, regression analysis, and other quantitative methods (existing or invented) that you identify to be most effective
- Design and implement effective survey sampling strategies and weighting techniques to ensure representative results
- Create repeatable and scalable mechanisms to measure customer sentiment that drives product iteration
- Work with Business Intelligence to triangulate insights with key metrics (e.g. usage, engagement) by customer segment and develop regular ways to report on recommended actions
- Synthesize a wide range of primary and secondary data types leading to focused, insightful, and actionable insights that persuade and inspire partners and decision makers to take concerted, informed actions
- Work closely with product and design teams to promote research best-practices, build resources, and train team members to enable them to execute their own research projects We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Bellevue, WA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA | Sunnyvale, CA, USA

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD or Master's degree in statistics, experimental psychology, cognitive science, human computer interaction, or related discipline
- 5+ years of quantitative field research/UX research
- Experience in quantitative analysis tools (e.g. R, Stata, Qualtrics) and SQL
- End-to-end experience with all aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
- Deep knowledge of survey design, behavioral statistics, and experimental design
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of an organization
- A portfolio of publications or past work experience showing the extraction of actionable insights from quantitative data
