Description

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (District) is a regional government agency, committed to achieving clean air to protect the public's health and the environment. The District is recruiting for the position of Human Resources Technician I/II in the Human Resources Office. Please note that this is a temporary position expected to be 12 months in duration, not to exceed 06/30/2025.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, provides technical and administrative support work in a variety of Human Resources functions, including benefits, onboarding/offboarding and other human resources programs.

 

Examples of Duties for this Position

  • Assists in the administration of employee benefits and leaves, retirement and health insurance programs; informs and advises employees regarding these programs: contacts insurance carriers and third-party administrators involved with the District's programs to resolve problems and answer employee questions.
  • Processes District personnel actions and benefits in District’s Human Resources Information Systems or other computer software programs.
  • Conducts new employee orientations and offboarding and provides information regarding District programs and policies.
  • Maintains and updates personnel files, procedures, forms and records.
  • Prepares various special and periodic reports.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of District policies and procedures and applicable laws and updates information as required.
  • Assists in coordinating human resources projects and programs as needed, including recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, training and organizational development, and safety and wellness.
  • Performs related work as assigned.     

 

Education and Experience:A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skill is:Human Resources Technician I: Equivalent to three years of general clerical support or office assistant experience.

Human Resources Technician II: In addition to the above, one year of experience in personnel support work. Completion of some college level coursework in public personnel administration is desirable.
