18.75/hour, plus $1,000 housing allowance (paid $250.00/week)

Position Details
Stewards Individual Placement Program (Stewards) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.
Stewards in partnership with the Tonto National Forest are seeking an intern who will survey and inspect National Forest System roads and road features and assist with transportation engineering construction projects to promote public health and safety, improve the Tonto National Forest transportation system, mitigate potential risks of erosion and flooding to at risk ecosystems, and reduce sedimentation in drainage systems, other ground surfaces, and bodies of water.
The position will support the Tonto's Civil Engineering Program by assisting with major highway and facilities projects. Major duties include reviewing engineering design plans, evaluating environmental clearance documents, performing project inspections, collecting field survey data, conducting inventories, and developing engineering reports. The intern will work with the Arizona Department of Transportation Liaison and the Facilities Engineer at the Supervisor’s office in Phoenix, AZ. This position is both field going and includes office work.
Position Responsibilities will include:
a) Avenza Pro mobile application, which will be used to collect field survey data
