PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position reports to the Transportation Manager. Supervisor is responsible for daily supervision of hourly employees ensuring that both customer service and internal measurements are held to the highest standards.

 

Primary Accountabilities:

 

Customer Service – Provide all customers served by this facility with quality products and services in a timely, accurate manner which is consistent with corporate goals and objectives.

 

Expense and Productivity – Monitor all facets of department activities to ensure that productivity and expense controls are consistent with budget goals and objectives.

 

Human Resources – Maintain a non-union environment which fosters an atmosphere that encourages teamwork among employees, promotes superior levels of achievement, and reduces employee turnover. Maintain acceptable levels on employee opinion surveys.

 

Asset Management – Monitor proper use of equipment and utilization of manpower to achieve facility goals. Maintain an efficient fleet of equipment and control inventory shrinkage.

 

Compliance – Operate department in a manner that complies with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Orgill corporate compliance narrative.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Customer Service

 

  1. Ensure freight delivery process is consistent with corporate goals.
  2. Respond to customer and sales inquiries in a timely manner.
  3. Promote superior customer service throughout the workforce.
  4. Limit product damages, shortages, and undelivered merchandise.
  5. Meet customer expectations regarding consistent delivery and professionalism

 

Expense and Productivity

 

  1. Measure and monitor department quality and efficiency levels.
  2. Train and coach employees to achieve quality and service standards.
  3. Communicate all service and operational deficiencies to the Transportation Manager. Human Resource Management

 

  1. Ensure staffing levels are maintained to provide superior customer service with minimal interruption to our customers.
  2. Promote teamwork and superior levels of achievement throughout the distribution region.
  3. Minimize employee turnover, retain good employees.
  4. Achieve acceptable levels on employee opinion surveys.
  5. Develop individual team members through coaching and correcting.
  6. Uphold, support and maintain company safety standards.
  7. Maintain a non-union work environment.

Asset Management

 

  1. Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working order through proper use and preventive maintenance.
  2. Meet delivery expectations through efficient, effective use of staff.
  3. Maintain housekeeping standards that promote employee health and safety while reducing damage to inventory.

  1. Allocate time efficiently, handle multiple tasks and complete priorities.
  2. Assist in developing plans to improve processes and reduce costs.
  3. Establish and maintain good working relationships with other departments.
  4. Show commitment to the sense of urgency that drives our daily business.

Skills and Qualifications

 

  1. Show ability to lead others in a fast-paced, high-quality work environment.
  2. Articulate with good oral and written communication skills.
  3. Proficiently use personal computer and Microsoft applications.
  4. Experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Post secondary education is preferred.
