Founded in 1988, Child Development Schools is headquartered in Austin, TX operating over 260 childcare centers in 11 states. Our three early childhood education brands are Childcare Network, Sunrise Preschools, and My Small Wonders. We proudly provide quality care and developmental education to over 30,000 children aged six weeks to twelve years. 

 

We have a great opportunity for a Vice President, Human Resources to join our growing company!

 

The VP of Human Resources oversees the Child Development Schools, Inc. (CDS) HR functions as well as leads the effort to centralize HR Services at CDS’ services affiliate, Neon Solution Services, LLC (“NSS”). In this role, the VP of HR will develop and oversee the strategic direction, management, delivery and performance of HR services aligned with the business objectives. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective HR services across the organization, leveraging best practices and innovative solutions to drive operational excellence, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

 

This senior leadership role develops and human resources policies, objectives, and initiatives. The VP HR leads, implements and measures the impact and success of the centralized end-to-end human resources to which deliver talent acquisition, talent management, career development, training, compensation, payroll, benefits, employee relations, and employee support services.

 

As a key member of the CDS leadership team this role will partner with and provide practical and sound business rationale and advice across the organization so that the human resources programs align with the organization's business and operational objectives, mission, and values, in particular, the VP of HR must have a relentless focus on improving turnover and retention. This role develops the teams and practical technology resources to facilitate regulatory compliance, recordkeeping, transaction processing, and analysis of workforce metrics. Identifies and explores trends in human resources to enhance the employee experience, meet evolving organizational needs and create innovative programs.

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a shared services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Well-rounded financial, business and operational acumen.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement in HR service delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into actionable HR strategies.
  • Experience managing HR compliance and risk in a complex organizational environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data to inform decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive HR shared services strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
    • Partner with senior leadership to understand and translate business needs into HR strategies and operational plans. Develops and executes against corresponding Key Performance Metrics.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  2. Operational Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of HR shared services, including payroll, benefits administration, talent management, HRIS, employee data management, and compliance.
    • Ensure the development and implementation of standardized processes, policies, and procedures across the HR function.
    • Design relevant key performance metrics: monitor and analyze HR metrics to assess HR services' effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HR shared services team.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment promoting professional growth and development.
    • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  4. Technology and Innovation:
    • Leverage HR technology solutions to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance user experience.
    • Stay abreast of emerging HR technologies and trends and implement innovative solutions to meet evolving business needs.
    • Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to ensure the practical and effective integration and optimization of HR systems.
  5. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
    • Manage HR-related risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the organization.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to standards and identify areas of non-compliance.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, HR business partners, and employees.
    • Act as a trusted advisor on HR-related matters, providing guidance and support to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Represent the HR shared services function in cross-functional initiatives and projects.
