The Associate Director will connect with and engage inspiring alumni leaders, donors, and university partners who are committed to giving back in support of the University to further OHIO’s mission of recruiting, supporting, engaging, and developing diverse groups of people. The incumbent will have a lasting impact on Ohio University’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) efforts.General position overview:
The Associate Director, Alumni Diversity Initiatives is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Ohio University Alumni Association’s (OUAA) Alumni Diversity Initiatives. In collaboration with the Director of Alumni Engagement, the incumbent will develop and execute strategy that seeks to engage alumni and friends through DE&I-focused programming, experiences, and volunteer service that helps to advance the mission and DE&I goals of the OHIO Alumni Association and the University. The qualified candidate will create and enhance OUAA DE&I programming and engagement including the university’s triennial Black Alumni Reunion. The incumbent will deliver programs and initiatives that drive participation across engagement channels and the university, including lifelong learning, alumni networks, regional engagement, and digital experiences. This individual will execute programs and manage relationships that support the OUAA’s strategies for moving stakeholders through the phases of engagement that result in participation and financial support. The Associate Director will represent the Association to a broad audience of alumni, donors, university partners, and administration.Primary responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership for an array of diversity-focused engagement opportunities and meaningful experiences for OHIO stakeholders. Collaborate with Advancement colleagues University colleges, campuses, and units to develop and deliver a comprehensive and consistent diversity-focused engagement plan that advances DE&I goals and opportunities for alumni to engage with OHIO in support of students and programs. Develop, lead, and execute alumni programs that provide the University’s diverse student, faculty, and staff population with networking, mentoring, and professional development opportunities with multicultural alumni societies, volunteers, and chapter representatives. Develop and execute programs (online and in person) that meet the needs of our geographically and demographically diverse alumni base of 250,000+ constituents. Identify and cultivate relationships, in collaboration with Advancement team, that help to strengthen opportunities for philanthropic support from Ohio University’s robust diverse populations. Travel to recurring events and regional markets to develop, grow, and maintain these important relationships. (40% of time)
2. Create, establish, and expand upon alumni groups that reflect OHIO’s commitment to diverse constituencies that include but are not limited to Black Alumni (serving as liaison to the Ebony Bobcat Network), LGBT Alumni, Latino Alumni, and International Alumni. Support the Association’s volunteers and volunteer management efforts specifically focusing on the Ebony Bobcat Network (EBN). Represent the OUAA at EBN meetings, manage relationships with EBN volunteers, and respond to the Network’s questions and requests. Utilize the Bobcat Network to energize and engage audiences to inspire action and provide support for the Network’s Bobcat Network Premium groups. (30% of time)
3. Conceptualize, plan and execute the tri-annual Black Alumni Reunion (BAR) as a traditional alumni engagement initiative. Coordinate, support and mobilize reunion committee volunteers. Work with Advancement colleagues to secure appropriate venues, vendors, and determine seamless logistics for various weekend logistics, etc. (20% of time)
4. Monitor budgets and support and contribute to ongoing measurement and evaluation of comprehensive engagement efforts and metrics across all modes of engagement (experiential, volunteerism, communication, and philanthropic). (10% of time)LOCATION and TRAVEL:
- University Advancement values in person collaboration and relationship building and therefore takes a hybrid approach that combines remote and in-office work days across the division. Unless traveling on university business, staff, including this position, work onsite multiple days per week. The Associate Director will work from the Athens, Ohio campus and may have the option to participate in the unit’s hybrid approach, upon approval.
– The Associate Director must have the ability and willingness to travel occasionally.About University Advancement:

- Bachelor’s degree- Five (5) years of programming, event planning, or related experience is required.An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree-Experience coordinating volunteers-Experience in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion field

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for pay grade 17 is $51,281 to $85,325. The salary negotiated at the time of offer will be commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity. RELOCATION allowance or SIGN ON BONUS of up to 10% of the base salary may also be available!
