Job Summary: The Emergency Doctor Lead reports to the Medical Director and is a key leader in the hospital who partners with the hospital leadership team to effect positive change, growth, and development of the hospital. They are influential in the vision and direction of the hospital and are actively involved in fostering a positive culture while ensuring high standards of patient and client care. The Emergency Doctor Lead in partnership with the Medical Director and Practice Manager is an ambassador of Thrive culture and leads their teams by embracing our Core Values of being Trustworthy, Supportive, Empathetic, and Collaborative.
Responsibilities: In addition to the duties entrusted to an Associate veterinarian, the Emergency Doctor Lead is responsible for the following:
•Participate in productive staff and Dr meetings with the Hospital Leadership Team.
•Manages ER Doctor schedule.
•Actively participate in ER doctor hiring process.
•Attend Thrive Leadership training in Thrive U.
•Attend leadership conferences at discretion of Medical Director or RDO.
•Ensure that the clinicians and medical team within the department maintain medical records in compliance with industry and Thrive standards.
•With the assistance of the Medical Director, develop forms, templates, and tools necessary for the department to achieve operational efficiency.
•Troubleshoot organizational and interpersonal issues within the department. Seek assistance from the Hospital Administrator/Practice Manager or People Operations as needed to facilitate a resolution.
•Interface with the Medical Director to troubleshoot department logistics (i.e. inventory stock, equipment maintenance, scheduling, medical SOPs, etc).
•Provide feedback to Medical Director to aid in the creation of medical standards and protocols.
•Provide feedback to Medical Director regarding department updates for hospital Leadership Team Thriving Together meetings (based on current and/or future hospital leadership, may have a seat on the hospital Thrive Leadership Team).
•Liaison with the referring veterinarian community to ensure a high level of client and rDVM satisfaction with the services provided by the Emergency Doctor.
•Perform other duties as necessary to promote the growth and success of the Emergency Service.
•Interfaces with the tech lead for the department for technician staffing needs.
•Coordinate with other Department Leads to best facilitate interdepartmental collaboration.
