Job Description - HS Girls Varsity Head Soccer Coach
HS GIRLS VARSITY HEAD SOCCER COACH Performance Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire Girls Soccer Program.
Train, develop, monitor, and motivate student-athletes to play Soccer.
Execute an effective training program.
Motivate student-athletes on and off the Field.
Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
Manage game strategies and game day logistics.
Ensure the safety and well-being of our student athletes.
Build relationships with and have a willingness to coach both beginners and advanced student-athletes.
Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
Instruct/guide student-athletes to lead them in the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence.
Cooperate in a timely manner, with the School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be required.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).
Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certification and an issued ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
Check the status of academic eligibility for all student-athletes.
Model the behavior expected of our players, including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding disciplines of the program.
Develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all times.
Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Schedule a full season of contests and enter teams in the State-sponsored Tournaments.
Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules (in writing) that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season. Follow the appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Accept and profit from constructive criticism/suggestions for improving coaching performance.
Participate in School Events (i.e, Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport as well as use of good judgment and decision-making.
Is competent in techniques of the sport and student-athletes respond positively to directions given.
Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
Be well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport.
Be innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
Provide motivation for student-athletes to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each student-athlete.
Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times.
Ensure that team is well prepared for opponent(s).
Maintenance of inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Essential Functions:
Fundraising experience.
Ability to motivate and inspire others.
Ability to serve as a positive role model.
Demonstrated knowledge of skills associated with this activity.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Trainings/Certifications:
Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is desired.
Provide satisfactory results on a County Police Record Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Provide satisfactory completion of Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification.
