Job Description - JV Boys Head Basketball Coach

JV BOYS HEAD BASKETBALL COACH
Please note: A Coaching Resume and three Letters of Recommendation must accompany your CPS online application. Performance Responsibilities:

Oversee the Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Program.
Work in collaboration with the Boys Varsity Head Basketball Coach.
Develop and execute an effective training program.
Develop, monitor, supervise, and train young men to play competitive basketball.
Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
Manage game strategies and game day logistics.
Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Build relationships with and have a willingness to coach both beginners and advanced student-athletes
Cooperate in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for information that might be pertinent and/or periodically required.
Meet all the requirements set forth by the District Athletic Department, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OSHAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification (CTC) and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
Follow the District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Model the behavior that is expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
Develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language, and conduct at all times.
Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OSHAA.
Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State-Tournament Games.
Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponents.
Maintains accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

Skills/Qualifications:

Fundraising experience.
Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
Previous coaching experience preferred.
Have the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Serve as a positive role model.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
Work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Trainings/Certifications:

Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification.
