Job Description



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Technical Lead in the Late Development stage of our Biotech traits program delivery teams. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and leadership within the Late Development (LD) program team, focusing on specific areas such as Trait introgression, Herbicide tolerance, Insect and Disease control, and Field trial design.

  • Act as the technical lead within the Late Development (LD) program team, with a focus on Trait introgression, Herbicide tolerance, Insect and Disease control, and Field trial design.
  • Own and implement the strategy for germplasm by transgene (GxTxE) and germplasm by transgene stack (GxTxTxE) field testing of lead event and Trait Introgression (TI) strategy for delivery of lead event in the commercial pipeline.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of field trials and data that support the advancement of materials through the Late Development to pre-commercial pipeline.
  • Support the development of functional capabilities related to trialing biotechnology products and set global standards of excellence for ways of working aimed at operational innovation and excellence in this space.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient delivery of high-quality material and data across the biotech pipeline's Development stage.
  • Deliver high-quality trait data by designing, planning, and implementing studies to evaluate biotech events.
  • Provide functional expertise in specific areas of Trait Evaluation to ensure adoption of effective practices across relevant technologies.
  • Evaluate data, trial insights, and reports to make recommendations for advancement decisions within the biotech pipeline.
  • Collaborate with other Trait Evaluation Study Directors to enable seamless transition and end-to-end delivery of trait technologies.
  • Work with program owners and managers to ensure effective planning and delivery of activities.
  • Coordinate seed logistics and provide information for regulatory permits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a network for internal stakeholders and track competitor activities to support the development of future trait evaluation capabilities.
  • Ensure data capture and storage requirements are met and provide expertise on adapting future data-related methodologies.
  • Work with a statistician to design agronomic trials and write phenotypic protocols.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree plus 2 or more years of industry experience, or Master’s degree with 5 or more years of industry experience. Degree should be in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, Agronomy, or related field.
  • Experience in design and management of high-quality agricultural research trials, seed production and field-based techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and management of field experience working with regulated transgenic trials in varietal crops and/or hybrid is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated exceptional proficiency in data management and organizational skill.
  • Ability to travel for field observations
