This position is to be a general mechanic for the COMNAVAIRPAC Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT). The function of this position is to provide engineering services, maintenance, operation training, and technical support regarding laundry, galley, heating ventilation, and air condition service equipment. CEMAT tasking requirements cover San Diego CA., Yokosuka Japan, and Bremerton, WA.

What You Will Do

• Maintains and repairs laundry, galley, heating ventilation, and air condition service equipment.
• Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
• May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
• Applies understanding of production and processes to assignments. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
• May assist in the development and use of technical documents including work packages, test documents, reports, and task reports.
• Performs duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignments.

What You Must Have

• High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience.
• Must have experience repairing shipboard HVAC, laundry, galley, and, heating ventilation equipment.
• Must be capable and have knowledge of using various mechanical industrial tools such as precision measuring instruments, portable power units and mechanical fastening devices or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain base access.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred: Bonus Points For

• Candidates with additional trade experience are preferred
• Prefer technical/professional certifications
• OSHA 10 Maritime Certification a plus.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
