Job Posting Title: Assistant To The Dean Of Major Academic Area Position Type: Professional / Unclassified Department: LSUAM MC - Human Resources (Becca Lea Robison (00001971)) Work Location: 0213A Journalism Building Pay Grade: Professional : The Manship School of Mass Communication's Assistant to the Dean will be proficient in managing a broad range of administrative tasks and projects. As the primary aide to the Dean, the Assistant will provide high-level administrative support for scheduling, task management, administrative initiatives, highly confidential matters and daily operations. The Assistant must be capable of independent decision-making and possess initiative to complete a broad range of administrative responsibilities for the Dean. Provides administrative support for the dean, advisory boards & committees. Manages the dean's calendar; prepares correspondence; maintains and updates records and files within the dean's office/computer files which are critical to the dean's day-to-day operation. Arrange all domestic and international travel for the dean. 30% Serves as ex-officio member of the Manship Alumni Board, arranging logistics, attending meetings and planning events. Works closely with the school's national Board of Visitors; assists with school event planning such as the Hall of Fame, 1913 Society Dinner, symposia, award ceremonies, etc. 20% Serves as a resource and contact person to provide accurate and current information to inquiries about the school from various campus departments, the business community and the general public. Familiar with Manship School policies. 20% Hires, trains and schedules student workers assigned to the Broadcast Lab. Processes hires for student workers working with faculty and/or other staff. 10% Serves as backup to HR Specialist (i.e., basic understanding of HRM, payroll and some accounting functions). Assists with researching information for accreditation efforts and other information required by ACEJMC. Attends faculty meetings. 10% Additional duties/projects as assigned by the dean. 10% Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. One year of professional experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, public relations/mass communication or related discipline. Two years of professional experience in an administrative assistant role.
