Job Description - SR Claims Adjuster

We are looking for a n Inland Marine SR Claims Adjuster, the role will be based in Chicago, IL.

The Impact You Will Have

The Inland Marine SR Claims Adjuster will handle all standard and complex Inland Marine Transportation / Logistics Claims, in both lead and following capacity.  The Inland Marine SR Claims Adjuster will also:

  • Ensure that claims are handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims Standards procedures and guidelines.
  • Utilize third party service providers to achieve economical results and to provide a high-quality service to all internal and external customers.
  • Act as a technical referral point for other Claims Handlers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

•     Investigate standard claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures

  • Determine appropriate reserving levels.
  • Proactively discuss and review contentious, large and complex claims with fellow adjusters and management to obtain opinions/feedback.

•     Evaluate, address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels

•     Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. Independent Adjusters, Experts)

•     Negotiate and resolve claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions

•     Ensure claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines                                                 

•     Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims procedures and guidelines

•     Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

•     3 to 5 years of solid knowledge of claim handling process from notification to settlement and recovery

•     Understanding of Inland Marine claims products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages

•     Good understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape                  

•     Ability to negotiate best positions for AzC and client, sometimes in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties

The annual base salary range base pay range for this role is $79,323 to $135,982.   The annualized represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.  As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
