Senior Manager, Warehouse

As a Senior Manager, Warehouse at GenMark Diagnostics, you are responsible for strategically planning the job assignments and quality monitoring of the warehousing functions for a 24/5 warehouse operation within three buildings. These functions include shipping of products, staging material for production work orders, receipt of materials, cycle counting, and ensuring accurate transactions in the QAD system. You will take point on various tasks including training, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance, Generally Acceptable Accounting Practices ( GAAP) compliance, and safe work practices.

Your Opportunity:

• You ensure the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control. You ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped according to marketing schedule.  You oversee and review receipt of all materials to ensure purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received meets company standards from proper vendors.

• You establish and modify operational methods and procedures, while maintaining documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities. You keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs.

• You strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services, while optimizing and coordinating full order cycles. You arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments, while a ssisting in the reconciliation of transaction and inventory count discrepancies.

• You supervise, coach, train and evaluate warehouse workforce to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

• You meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets, while m aintaining metrics and analyzing data to assess performance and implement improvements.

• You will comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements, while ensuring warehouse personnel is working in a safe manner (your team will be operating heavy material handling equipment, company vehicles, and handling potentially hazardous materials). You will become fully trained in the appropriate emergency hazmat response procedures.

• Your Internal interactions will include: Customer Service, Production, Planning, Purchasing, QC/QA, and Cost Accounting. And y our External interactions will include: Freight companies, customs agents, distributor’s traffic personnel.

Who You Are:

• You have a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in a Manufacturing, Warehouse or Supply Chain Management functions.  OR, an Associates Degree with 11+ years in a Manufacturing, Warehouse or Supply Chain Management functions. OR, a High Diploma or GED with 14+ years in in a Manufacturing, Warehouse or Supply Chain Management functions. ( Knowledge of, or previous experience in a GMP environment is highly desirable)

• You have 5 years of progressive management/leadership experience (preferred)

• You have knowledge of computerized inventory control systems, inventory control methods and procedures, and freight manifest systems

• You have intermediate-level skills on personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software

• You have hands-on experience shipping products via common freight carriers , supplying materials to production work orders , and receiving materials against purchase orders

• You are trained in the safe usage of basic warehouse equipment such as forklifts and stock pickers

• You are hands-on, self-directed, organized, conscientious and complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner

• You think and work both tactically and strategically to provide financial and operational needs to GenMark’s business

• You display analytical problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills

• You have strong time management and organizational skills and can work in a dynamic, constantly changing environment

• You have the ability to read, write and analyze complex documents

• You respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, customer inquiries or complaints as well as communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, peers and individuals

• You will become Hazmat emergency response certified

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments.   The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens and automated equipment.

While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.  The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Carlsbad, CA is $90,800-$168,600.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
