We are seeking a full-time Service Assistant II to process and supply clean, sanitary linens in a safe manner for Textiles customers. These caregivers
will need to wear appropriate PPE (gown, gloves, face shield) and will be responsible for moving linen carts to the cart dumper, opening soiled linen bags on the conveyor, and sorting the soiled linen into appropriate bins.

The work schedule for this position is 8:00am-4:30pm, also includes working every other weekend and every other holiday.

Principal duties and responsibilities:
Operate all laundry equipment in a safe manner; knows safety cut offs.
Pre-sort all categories and types of soiled linens for washing.
Operate Dump station, sort table.
Operate all equipment in Soil Sort including tunnel washers, washer extractors, presses and cart washer.
Operate clean processing equipment including dryers, flatwork ironers, feeders, pickers and folding equipment.
Restocks linen carts for all customers to set par levels of clean linens.
Hand folds linen not folded by machine.
Inspects all linen for tears and stains and process accordingly.
Inspects, folds and prepares surgical linen packs for sterilization.
Repair surgical linens with patching machine.
Operate tying machine
Prepares uniforms, lab coats for hospital personnel.
Keeps laundry area clean.
Helps to keep laundry area clean.
Takes linen and carts to designated floors and locations.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Education and experience requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
One year experience or on job training.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:
Ability to input basic computer commands at various work stations.
Ability to operate all types of laundry machinery.
Ability to learn departmental and CCHS policies and procedures.
Possess good hand-eye coordination for sorting linens.
Ability to communicate verbally.
Physical demands:
Prolonged standing and walking. Requires ability to lift and walk with weights up to 40 pounds, pushing and pulling of heavy carts and handling large amounts of linens.
Working conditions:
Exposure to hazardous chemicals, chemical odors, and loud noises. Possible exposure to sharp instruments and infectious diseases.
