Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

  • Responsible for “supplier performance management” (SPM) activities, with a focus on the “Contract Management” of medium to large size/value purchase orders and supplier contracts that are awarded on Solar Projects managed by the MEP (Major Enterprise Projects) Business unit. Job includes identifying and maximizing value opportunities while managing the post award activities of high intensity solar farm construction project related purchase orders and contracts. Key to this position will be leading all PO and Contract change order activities in support of project execution. Position requires 30% travel to Solar project construction site locations throughout the state of Michigan.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development of a contract strategy within the business unit/COE
  • Define contract terms/conditions in accordance with company standards
  • Manage post award contract activities:
  • Manage supplier/contractor performance & compliance
  • Ensure contract (terms/conditions) compliance; such as enforcing payment terms
  • Modify contract as necessary
  • Ensure contract close-out, extension or renewal (verify completion of work at close-out)
  • Manage medium and high intensity contracts through the entire life cycle
  • Provide performance metrics report on contract management performance/development & compliance
  • Intervenes, analyzes, manages and resolves business conflicts between the company and vendors/contractors/suppliers
  • Point of contact to resolve contractual issues as required
  • Identify and apply value maximizing opportunities
  • Partner with supply chain management's Buyers to develop optimal contract terms
  • Manage PO specific work efforts (technical and commercial) in accordance with corporate policy
  • Ensure that signed contracts are communicated to all relevant parties to provide contract visibility, awareness, and interpretation to support implementation.
  • Handle on-going issues and change management documenting appropriately
  • Interface with key customer, proactively insuring contractual compliance and performance
  • Collaborates with the SCM team to provide guidance on vendor selection
  • Ability to analyze current processes and make modifications utilizing CI principles
  • Support structuring of negotiations of contracts
  • Supports development of SPM value targets and tracks performance to goals
  • Mentors other Contract Managers and supports their work as necessary

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Associates degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years experience in contract management techniques

Other Qualifications

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree
  • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certified

  • Proficiency in the following software: MicroSoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), SAP, Maximo, SRM
  • Travel up to 30% of time with occasional overnight stays in and throughout the State of Michigan
  • Support the DTE Severe Storm Public Protection program to assure wire down situations are identified and barricaded for safety
