Job Description - Sr Sourcing Manager

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage a global spend of over $150M on Engineered System commodities (Skids, valves, pumps, motors, filters, etc) and develop/manage sourcing strategy for the assigned commodity to achieve variable cost productivity, cash flow, and controllership goals with SQDC mindset.
  • Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier panels. Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers. Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to Procurement. Manage claims. Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support, etc. This may also include purchasing activities.
  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise within their discipline. May require strong commercial awareness, and is expected to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Steer/Support the global supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier management, including managing the entire contract life cycle. Minimize GE risk exposure, by working closely with Projects and Contracts (Commercial, Legal, Commodity Sourcing, Engineering) teams to ensure customer flow downs are pass-through to suppliers.
  • Drive strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger
  • Partner with engineering teams to identify and implement direct material productivity ideas to minimize total cost. Work closely with engineering, buyers and sourcing quality engineers to ensure fulfillment and quality requirements are achieved. Team with logistics and commercial teams to ensure adequate regional capacities exist to minimize transportation costs and meet localization requirements
  • Aligning closely with cross functional leaders to identify and assess supplier capabilities, and measure and manage supplier performance. Negotiate lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest quality of goods and services. Interface with other GE business sourcing teams and participate in companywide strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
  • Regularly advises management in the function and/or in the business. Has a supportive role in decision making about important subjects. High levels of evaluative judgment are required to achieve outcomes required. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

Required Qualifications

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires at least 10 years of experience in the Sourcing & Commodity Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in USA - Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

  • Strong project management and process improvement skills. Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies to solve problems and drive solutions.
  • Prior GE Leadership program experience, such as OMLP, FMP, CAS.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $125,000 - $208,300 USD Annual .

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This Senior Professional Band position is also eligible for a Variable Incentive bonus of 15%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
