Job Description - ADAS Principal TPM

ADAS Principal Embedded Software Technical Program Manager

The Advance Driver Assistance Technology ( ADAS ) team develops state-of-the-art software and algorithms to deliver best-in-class features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and 360 camera systems. ADAS also developed Ford’s industry-first Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, securing over 60 patents in the process. The team is responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of these features into production on all Ford vehicle lines.

We are seeking a diligent, detail-driven professional to provide vital expertise in support of our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems ( ADAS ) Embedded Software development activities. This involves applying Technical Program Management engineering principles and analytical techniques in support of delivering embedded platform software for the next generation of ADAS ECU .

What you will do:

+ Partner with key stakeholders to define, scope, prioritize, and deliver major ADAS software initiatives that span multiple teams and multiple organizations across Ford.

+ Understand the needs of stakeholders across the product development organization and influence as appropriate to achieve alignment on the prioritized initiatives

+ Apply technical project planning, management, and leadership for the development and delivery of ADAS Embedded Software (hand coded or MBD -based)

+ Apply technical project planning, management, and leadership for the development and delivery of software tooling and/or support software to advance ADAS product development

+ Implement and execute roadmaps, schedules, project plans, and resourcing plans to enable ADAS to meet customer commitments across all customer constituencies

+ Lead team members on modern, world-class, software development practices, and precise execution of a technical plan (including management of milestone progress, dependency tracking, risk management, and risk mitigation)

+ Interface with and lead cross functional teams – Systems, Software, Feature, Suppliers, Manufacturing, V&V, Quality to define and drive development plans, ensuring on time SW delivery with highest quality

+ Partner with technical development leaders to create symbiotic relationships that showcase high value in technical leader/ TPM matched-pairing through delivery velocity

+ Utilize technical knowledge and capabilities to assist technical leaders and engineers in resolving dependencies and issues with stakeholders

+ Help to resolve technical issues or, at a minimum, lead the forum where solution options are discussed and drive to a conclusion

+ Elevate the visibility of the team – provide regular “push” updates through wiki, Slack, Teams, email, and other communication mediums

+ Communicate and present project status to a broad stakeholder and leadership community, highlighting schedule risks and developing recovery plans in the event of project slips

+ Proactively utilize work management tools – Wiki, JIRA , Project Management Tools – to make plans and status visible to leadership and to provide strategic planning options/contingencies

You will have…

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar related technical field

+ 7+ years working experience in product or feature development on hardware, software, and/or services

+ 5+ years leading technical projects globally

+ Expertise with modern work management tools (ex. JIRA )

+ Expertise with modern Product Development software development practices

+ Strong background in embedded software development

Even better, you may have…

+ Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar related technical field

+ 10+ years working experience in product or feature development on hardware, software, and/or services

+ Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines (engineering, product, design, testing, quality, etc.) on high complexity projects throughout the entire product lifecycle

+ Expert knowledge of Agile development methods and application

+ Mastery of technical plan development (task identification, task breakdown, timing) for consumption at multiple leadership levels of the organization

+ Proven ability to communicate program information to various leadership and stakeholder levels of the organization (written and verbal)

This position is hybrid (Tuesdays – Thursdays onsite) if you are located within 50 miles of one of Ford’s offices in Dearborn, MI or Sunrise, FL. Otherwise the position is remote.
