Job Description - Business Development Manager

Pillar Innovations is an Industrial Solutions and Service Company with 15 years of experience in the Energy, Mining, Manufacturing, Industrial Construction, Aggregate, and Renewables Industries. The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country.

 

As a Business Development Manager, the general role will be responsible for managing the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. The Sr. Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key customers throughout the service area. The position will be tasked with identifying and securing new business opportunities through the creation, implementation and execution of a targeted sales and marketing plan, that aligns with the strengths, capabilities, goals and objectives of Pillar Innovations. The candidate will lead and direct a growth plan while representing the core values Pillar innovations.

 

The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Executive Vice President. The position will require travel, site visits and face-to-face customer meetings and contacts. Most of the travel is expected to be day travel with minimal out-of-town and overnight required. The Business Development Manager will be expected to possess an extensive knowledge of the services and sell these services to prospective customers. The Business Development Manager will serve as a primary customer contact and demonstrate a working knowledge of estimating, procurement, and project management. The Business Development Manager will share in the responsibility of ensuring that customer quotes are accurate, complete, and well presented.

 

The Business Development Manager will work primarily out of the Knoxville location. 

  • Provides management and support for new business pipeline development
  • Determine market strategies and goals
  • Develop, implement and execute a short and long-term targeted sales and marketing strategy
  • Make suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts
  • Administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts
  • Initiate self-generated leads through various methodologies to include, but not limited to
  • Collaboration with other business units within Pillar Innovations
  • Track industry trends and emerging business opportunities and adjust sales and marketing strategies accordingly
  • Establish and maintain a lead management system with all customer contacts and status
  • Secure and follow through the project process to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Meet established sales goals as directed
  • Refine and establish department offerings and services
  • Establish a service level agreement program and sell to customers for continuous support

  • 10+ years of experience in business development and proposal development 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience and success in all aspects of capture and proposal processes
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills with excellent writing and computer skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge USAID rules and regulations
  • Flexibility to assume a workload which frequently necessitates an adjustment of priorities
  • Ability to work and deliver under strict deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) along with organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Proficient with MS Office productivity software
  • Ability to efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while interacting with customers, with an aptitude to answer technical questions in a simplified manner

  • Perform visits on-site and underground at industrial locations

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. In accordance with The Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy, employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
