Associate Director Marketing, Global Commercial Strategy – Heme

Location: Boston, MA (3 days onsite, 2 days remote weekly)

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking to hire an Associate Director, Marketing - Heme to join our growing team in Boston, MA. This role will report to the Director, Global Commercial Strategy, Cell and Gene Therapy Operations - Heme.

The Associate Director will be responsible for leading global initiatives for Authorized Treatment Centers (ATCs) for CASGEVY, a novel CRISPR-based gene therapy for transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia (TDT) and sickle cell disease (SCD). This will include development and implementation of Global ATC strategies, plans, and tactics to drive success across the ATC lifecycle from initial activation through ongoing operations and to enable process optimization and scaling through the next phase of CASGEVY commercialization. This role will work closely with North American and International Heme Business Units, Apheresis and Infusion Operations, Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Data, Technology and Engineering to ensure alignment and meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with regional ATC teams and cross-functional representatives across all commercial markets for CASGEVY to understand and strategically address Global ATC priorities

  • Direct the development and implementation of Global ATC messaging and materials in partnership with regional teams and SMEs and works with Global Commercial Review Committee members

  • Generate and consolidate insights and learnings from ongoing operations in partnership with regional teams and engages to effectively address emergent needs related to ATC operations in launch year and beyond

  • Collaborate on development and implementation of plans to optimize and scale ATC operations globally

  • Work cross-functionally to define and evolve global technical and business processes, policies, and requirements impacting ATC experience based on SME / field insights

  • Support commercial tactics to optimize cell collections at ATCs to improve patient experience, including content generation in partnership with medical and clinical

  • Participate in annual tactical/brand plan including budgeting and tracking

  • Lead primary and secondary research to support near- and long-term strategy development

  • Direct and manage external vendors to ensure on budget and timely deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or science

  • 8 years+ of marketing, consulting or agency experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex initiatives that require collaboration across multiple functional areas

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategy, make strategic recommendations, and monitor performance

  • Ability to oversee generation of insights and apply those insights to business problems/opportunities

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation delivery, and interpersonal skills to be effective in a team environment.

  • A solid compliance mindset and demonstrated integrity on the job
