The Opportunity

Toxicology, part of Abbott’s Rapid & Molecular Diagnostics Division, currently has an opportunity for a Cost Analyst for an onsite role based in San Diego, California.

The scope of this position is responsible for the month-end closing and financial reporting, FP&A and the budgeting and forecasting process, implementing and tracking of company policies and controls in financial functions, and other administrative services for the manufacturing of eCup+. Direct responsibility over complex accounting, forecasting, and reconciliations for site.

This job description will be reviewed periodically and is subject to change by management.

What You'll Work On

  • Support all month-end closing and financial reporting processes. 
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of general ledger transactions – analysis of accounting treatment, GL posting, account reconciliation, reporting, internal controls, etc.
  • Support all FP&A processes. 
  • Lead quarterly LBE process, annual Plan process, and annual Standards setting process. 
  • Complete monthly variance analysis.
  • Ensure timely closure of the monthly accounting process including preparation and input of journal entries, analysis and reconciliation of G/L accounts, and maintenance of computerized accounting system.
  • Prepare financial statements and other financial reports as needed in accordance with GAAP and Corporate.
  • Assist in the audit and corporate financial statement as required by corporate management, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
  • Provide information, reports and presentations as requested by Plant Controller, Finance Director, Site Director, and other leadership. 
  • Provide monthly financial reports to internal department heads.
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
  • Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2 + years’ experience in general accounting and/or FP&A
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and cost systems
  • Complex understanding and creative experience using various reporting tools including MS office suite
  • Understanding the functionality of an ERP system
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Able to work with a variety of people on multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA certification and/or MBA

The base pay for this position is $65,900.00 – $131,900.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
