As the Development Center Manager, you will lead and direct Development Center staff through all associated activities. You will create and manage all schedules and priorities to deliver world-class apparel concept samples in a timely manner. In addition, you will assist Concept Creators on special projects that are both client and student based. You will work as a support to the Concept Creation Team in all facets of the process. You will manage other related tasks as assigned.

PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead the Development Center team.
  • Work with the Design and Development teams to initiate, prioritize, assign, and schedule the development and completion of concept samples.
  • Create a ready-for-production Standard Operating Procedure binder, which includes but is not limited to best practices regarding timing of operations, arranging equipment in order of production, identifying the manufacturing process for each concept, and keeping visual and written records of overall process and procedures.
  • Effectively establish and manage local, regional, and global suppliers and service providers to ensure projects are within assigned budget and timelines.
  • Maintain compliance for equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain and manage material inventory.
  • Maintain real time awareness of and be prepared to report on progress of all deliverables.
  • Manage monthly expenditures including but not limited to hours worked by team members and utilization of materials and supplies.
  • Oversee facility safety, organizing training as necessary for regional safety standards and requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of changing apparel manufacturing technologies and execute to ensure state of the art concepts. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to operate all apparel manufacturing tools and machinery.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Mechanically and technically inclined.
  • Ability to synthesize and assess complex data.
  • Excellent organizational and communication dexterity, including written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Adobe illustrator.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and resolve with out-of-the-box, creative problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational agility.
  • Strong leadership aptitude for developing, coaching, and managing a cohesive team.
  • Ability to set and evaluate clear performance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain highly positive relationships with individuals and teams that are made up of diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds resulting in effective working relationships across the company.

TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of three years management experience in a soft goods environment.
  • Experience in apparel manufacturing a plus.
