Job Description - FSQ Positive Release Specialist

Position Overview

Reporting to the FSQ Manager, the FSQ Positive Release Specialist will be responsible for maintaining plant compliance to the positive release process of all finished good material, involving the execution and coordination of various food safety record review. The FSQ Positive Release Specialist will support the final finished good release of all material and inventory transactions in the plant ERP system. The FSQ Positive Release Specialist will maintain records of all food safety and electronic record review pertaining to the production of finished goods, including batching, processing, filling, and finished goods records. The FSQ Positive Release Specialist will support the FSQ Manager and FSQ Supervisor in closing any investigations pertaining to non-conforming goods.

Job Responsibilities

- Execute review and approval of food safety and quality records across all manufacturing processes including batching, processing, filling, packaging, and sanitation

- Execute review and approval of laboratory records including analytical product testing, package integrity, and microbiological testing records

- Coordinate electronic record storage for each production lot

- Maintain plant release log documenting completion of record approval for each step in manufacturing process, including any investigations, COA’s, and finished goods release

- Execute finished goods release in plant ERP system

- Coordinate correction of any record deviations with operations leadership, including maintaining plant record deviation log, and KPI tracking

- Coordinate finished product on-time release KPI’s

- Support the FSQ Manager and FSQ Supervisor in maintaining Quality Events in plant ERP system

- Support the FSQ Manager and FSQ Supervisor in maintaining key quality KPI’s for plant review

- Provide contribution towards root cause analysis and customer complaint investigations, including record review and transaction history in plant ERP system

- Provide contribution towards the creation of any new food safety and quality records required by any new customer, process, or regulation

- Effectively and efficiently communicate with external customers, as required

- Other duties, as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety within the food or beverage industries.
  • Experience in regulatory aspects of food or beverage manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to enforce Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
  • Knowledge of FSMA and FDA regulations.
  • Experience as user of ERPs (Ross, SAP, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aseptic processing and packaging of food or beverage products.
  • Completion of “Better Process Control School – Aseptic Packaging”
  • PCQI certified
  • Work experience with Continuous Improvement methods.

Physical Activity:

Regularly: Sit, stand, walk/move about

Occasionally: Reach overhead, climb, squat/bend/kneel, lift/carry/push/pull average of 50 lbs

Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-100 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, allergens including but not limited to soy, tree nuts, milk and milk by-products; and fumes from food processing equipment.
