Job Description - Global Lab Safety Manager, Amazon Robotics EHS, Robotics Technology

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Robotics Environment Health and Safety (EHS) team is seeking a talented Global Lab Safety Manager to provide leadership and support to the Research and Development (R&D) labs worldwide by developing and implementing a comprehensive lab safety program. The global lab safety manager will develop requirements, processes and mechanisms to guide the build out and operations of R&D labs to serve internal Amazon product development teams and to ensure compliance to Amazon Policies, industry standards and local regulations. You will be a critical member of the EHS team, working to foster a positive, proactive laboratory safety program, by collaborating with design and development engineers, laboratory managers, safety engineers, and senior leadership to promote best management practices. You will have opportunities to partner with cross-functional teams on cutting-edge robotic technology and automation solutions for ever-growing's robotic fleet. The ideal candidate will have experience in safety and compliance associated with R&D and manufacturing of automation and robotic technologies. You will have deep knowledge of regulations that govern Environmental, Health and Safety as well as strong knowledge and experience in Machine Safety and related industry standards. This role will require up to 20% travel domestically and internationally. Key job responsibilities
• Develop and drive the EHS strategy and roadmap for R&D labs worldwide
• Establish and implement global lab EHS requirements, specifications and procedures based on Amazon policies, local regulations, and harmonized industry standards
• Provide EHS leadership and support in selection and design of lab infrastructure and equipment that are safe and compliant per Amazon and local jurisdiction
• Develop and execute EHS management system for lab operations and consistently drive continual improvements
• Monitor and track EHS compliance of lab operations and actively identify and develop mitigation plans for any gaps
• Develop risk assessment methodology for lab activities and infrastructure and provide leadership on execution of risk assessment and mitigation
• In partnership and collaboration with our Innovation, R&D and Site EHS teams, investigate incidents or unexpected failures and develop concrete proposals to mitigate and prevent future incidents
• Contribute to building a safety culture that enables our technical engineering teams to develop and deploy safe and compliant products, systems and solutions
• Partner and collaborate with lab safety leaders across Amazon to influence and adopt best practices, and to relentlessly simplify and unify approaches
• Maintain and leverage industry partnerships and participate in industry standard committees relevant to Amazon Robotics R&D labs A day in the life

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in an EHS, Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience working in labs and manufacturing environments with strong understanding of safety standards and requirements
• Experience working within a global company, with global or multi-country responsibilities
• Deep knowledge and experience in safety risk assessment, machinery safety and electrical safety
• Working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene regulations and best practices
• Working knowledge of International and EU/NA Standards such as EU Directives, ISO, IEC, ANSI, NFPA, UL, OSHA, CFR, NFPA, ANSI, FCC, etc
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adapting the approach to meet the needs of customers, business and program stakeholders and engineering teams involved
• Able to think big, insist on high standards and deliver results
• Ability to self-manage priorities and deliverables. Flexible in responding to changing demands, goals, timelines, and priorities
• Ability to collaborate and lead in a flexible, detail-oriented, fast-paced team environment in a changing and growing organization
• Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner, excellent critical thinker with problem-solving skills, think big and insist on highest standard while having the ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
