Primary Function/General Purpose of Position :

The Manager, GME Learning Labs will develop and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Simulation Center, Robotics Lab and Douglas Cadaver Lab. The Manager oversees the preparation, maintenance, inventory and operation of all simulation equipment and supplies and collaborates with faculty to design, plan, implement, budget, and schedule simulation activities. The Manager develops and ensures adherence to the center policies, course objectives, program outcomes and current simulation best practice and safety measures. The Manager will also work with allied health educational leaders within the hospital to provide assistance in learning and training objectives.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Maintains and evaluates simulation capabilities to support simulation across multiple programs and departments in graduate medical education, undergraduate medical education and hospital inter-professional continuing education.

  • Negotiates agreements, warranties, and builds efficient communication with manufacturers and companies regarding maintenance, repair, update and technology changes, and oversees the upgrades to software and equipment as needed

  • Manages and supervises the general day to day operations of the simulation center, robotics, and cadaver labs to provide a wide variety of patient simulation and educational experiences.

  • Serves as primary contact and manages the scheduling process and simulation scenarios for residency programs, medical students, nursing, ancillary departments, and external entities.

  • Collaborates with lead course faculty, provides input into skills and simulations course components and ensure intentional building of procedural and simulation content across the curriculum.

  • Participates in faculty and department meetings to assist with development and implementation of simulation experiences.

  • Collaborates with the program director to develop policies, procedures, materials, and manuals related to orientation and professional development for course faculty.

  • Monitors and prepares the simulation lab budget.

  • Coordinates the collection of data for any research or grant requirements.

  • Incorporates best practice and evidenced-based research in program development with a focus on standardization and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum.

  • Develops and oversees simulation and procedure for training faculty, residents, and other staff on the safety, use and operation of simulation equipment.

  • Oversees the set up and take down of simulation laboratory equipment – allowing for rapid turnover of simulation lab set up as necessary.

    • Oversee the regular maintenance and facilitate the repair of all simulation equipment, including:

    • Computers, monitors and a variety of clinical medical equipment

    • Audiovisual and debriefing systems

    • High and low fidelity simulators

    • Task trainers

  • Establishes and manages accurate equipment inventory, maintenance agreement and develop organization and stocking of simulation laboratory supplies and equipment.

  • Presents Sim lab information to local businesses, schools and groups in order to maintain or establish new relationships and partnerships.

  • Trains and manages robotics and cadaver lab technicians.

3-5 years previous clinical experience, as such nursing or 3-5 years prior simulation experience (preferred)
