Material Handler

Modern Process Equipment is seeking a Material Handler - Grinders to add to our hard-working team in Chicago, IL.

MPE is a privately held, family-owned manufacturer of processing equipment for the coffee and food industries. All products are designed and manufactured at the company's facility in Chicago, IL, near Midway Airport. As part of MPE's team you will contribute to the growth of our core product lines in a fast pace, dynamic, and rewarding environment.

Job Summary:

Efficiently ensure all materials are in the assigned location, timely moves parts and loads into the correct location, assists to manage physical inventory areas of the workshop, including inventory counts, assists in assembly kits creation.

Responsibilities:

• Keeps area clean and debris out of work area.
• Organizes merchandise in inventory locations and labels accordingly.
• Un-package, tag, and place verified material in its designated storage location.
• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment
• Stage material for processing.
• Moves material in and out of work cells
• Maintains assigned equipment.
• Notify supervisor of unusual problems.
• Use forklift truck, hand truck, packaging equipment, overhead cranes, hand tools, scales, and other simple measurement devices.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
• Assist in Assembly Kits creation
• Assists in Inventory Counts
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner and pass a safety test to become a licensed operator.
• Ability to lift or carry more than 60 lbs rarely and between 25 and 60 lbs frequently.
• Energetic, friendly, professional, with a strong work ethic, and an energetic attitude
• Ability to read and understand work instructions and perform simple arithmetic.
• Position must pass a post offer drug test and background check.
• Ability to read simple drawings with bill of materials for kitting.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, organized, and positive warehouse environment.
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Proficient with computers.
• Attention to detail / time management.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, Spanish desirable.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime based on scheduling needs
