Material Handler/Forklift

Monday - Friday

8:00am - 5:00pm

Temp to hire opportunity

• $21.00 per Hr

• Main would be to help fill daily orders – pulling 1 metal sheet at a time 4’x10’ or 4’ x 12’ or bars of metal (rebar, edge etc.). They have a 50-pound max lift and then buddy lift. He said they have not had anyone of his knowledge get hurt at the job (no light duty ever needed).

• Most of the metal is inside the building. There are swamp coolers, and they keep the bay doors open. Temperature can get into the 90’s in the building.

• M-F from 7:30Am-4:30pm.

• He prefers people with steel experience or heavy manufacturing. They will be more used to the environment and work conditions and have a better knowledge.

• No job hoppers please

• When interviewing they must wear their steel toe boots with metatarsal coverage of the top of the foot. When working is also required to wear hard hat, eye protection, cut resistant gloves. They will provide the other PPE that will be required other than the boots.

• They have monthly safety meetings and cover different scenarios.

• The facility was very clean, and he said they clean up often to keep up the place. Pride in where they work.

• This person will not be trained on the crane or forklift for some time, maybe not until they are a Full-time employee of Ryerson.

• They will be working with roughly 8 other people in the building.

• Drug 10 panel Urine

• Physical might be needed
