Hourly Wage Scale: $21.28-$23.63 USD hourly + Benefits (+ Bonus) 

The hourly range reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position at the time of posting. Within the range, exact compensation will be determined based on education/training, skill set, experience, and other organizational needs.

Shift Differential Pay:

Swing - $0.15

Graveyard - $0.75

  • SUMMARY

    Operates food packaging machine and related equipment, such as scales, bagger, metal detector, bag conveyor, case erector and case machine efficiently in relation to material usage, product waste, and weight control.  Performs sanitation duties of the work area including the machines.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
  • Operates packaging machine and related equipment.
  • Performs machine preventative maintenance checks, diagnostic checks, and routine adjustments on equipment.
  • Monitors and corrects codes on finished product bags according to customer specifications.
  • Monitors product flow from feed shakers, Ishida’s, and Bosch.
  • Documents packaging machinery data.
  • Performs standardized testing and control measurements.
  • Ensures equipment runs efficiently and outputs quality product
  • Cleans packaging machines. 
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
  • Communicates any problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.
  • Participates in continuous improvement process.                             
  • Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct.
  • The employee may be required to successfully complete the orientation and training provided during the first ninety- (90) days of employment.

  • Responsibility to monitor work areas, watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.
  • Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of themselves, other employees, products, and equipment.
  • Responsibility of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.
  • Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.

  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.

  • The operator will have to successfully complete the orientation and training provided during the first 90 days of employment.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • Visual acuity and alertness.  Required for operating bagging machine, identifying problems and for safety due to moving equipment. 

    Speech/communication/hearing.  Required ability to inform supervisor or other employees of problems.  Requires ability to listen and follow any special instructions relating to safety or job performance. 

    Touch.  Must be able to use fingers to grasp objects, etc. 

  • Able to perform all job safety requirements.

  • Availability of task rotation:  Completion of inspection jobs as needed.

  • Other:  Requires moderate degree of manual and mental skill, initiative, and independence.  Requires reasonable care to avoid minor product or equipment losses.  Requires considerable care to avoid moderate injuries to self.  Requires standing with extensive movements in one area for long periods of time.  Occasionally requires individual to be in awkward positions.  Caution is required when working around equipment including automatic caser and bagging machine to keep hands clear of moving parts when removing jams and adjusting machines.  Proper body mechanics need to be practiced whether lifting, pushing, sweeping, bending, stooping, crouching, etc.
