Job Description - Product Safety Engineer

Product Safety Engineer (HYBRID) needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client in Newark, NJ.

Pay Rate: $50/hr

HYBRID schedule-onsite 2 days per week

What You'll Be Doing:
This role deals with mainly REVERSE ENGINEERING. Not making anything.
Candidates should have experience in PRODUCT SAFETY
Testing Products before going market
Test products that are returned from being on the market (Product Liability)
Experience with Consumer Electronics is a bonus.
Experience with Batteries is a bonus

Responsibilities:

As a Product Compliance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that products meet regulatory requirements, adhere to industry standards, and uphold the company's commitment to quality, safety, and compliance. Your primary objective will be to maintain the highest level of product safety, government compliance and mitigate potential hazards that could lead to customer harm or legal disputes.

There is a strong emphasis on technical aspects of this profession, scientific understanding, and strong project management. Professionals in this role expand their involvement in international/multinational regulatory issues and begin a more active involvement with concepts of regulatory strategy and people management. Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting thorough inspections and tests, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and industry standards. By meticulously evaluating product designs, materials, and manufacturing processes, you will contribute to the development of safe, reliable, and legally compliant products. Your expertise will be instrumental in protecting both the company's reputation and the well-being of its customers.

Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, product safety, industrial design (recent grads will be considered)
In-depth knowledge of product safety regulations, standards, and best practices, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IEC 62368.
Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard analysis techniques.
Experience in conducting product testing, compliance assessments, and root cause analysis.
