Purchasing / Procurement Associate

The Purchasing / Procurement Associate , internally titled as Buyer, at Aqua-Chem completes the placement of purchase orders for materials, components and services to support industrial capital equipment manufacturing.

Schedule: FT,   Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm (OT may be required on occasional Fridays)

Location: Onsite; Knoxville, TN

Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:

• Negotiates prices, payment terms, and delivery with vendors to meet or be under budget while maintaining on time deliveries
• Initiates purchase orders for specific materials and commodities to meet job requirements, cost targets and production schedule
• Works with Shop Schedule/Scheduler to achieve material flow that supports shop schedule.
• Ability to develop and source Industrial Components, Materials and Service
• Develops and maintains acceptable vendor base for specified purchased materials.
• Position requires regular exercise of decision making, problem solving and policy or procedure adherence
• Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and high customer focus with internal and external customers
• Make contacts that sometimes involve controversy where established methods or procedures require interpretation.
• Experience with material planning to maintain project schedules
• Proven experience sourcing Materials, Components and Services domestic and worldwide to achieve company objectives
• Perform other duties as assigned/required by Supervisor or Manager .

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Equivalent Work Experience
• 2 to 4 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management preferably in an OEM Equipment Environment
• Working knowledge of FAR and DFAR Military Purchasing Requirements is a plus.
• Proven Price and Contract negotiation skills
• Effective time management organization and the ability to work independently
• Demonstrated high level of aptitude in spreadsheets, databases, and electronic commerce
• Capable to analyze data and produce sound decisions within short timeframe
• Proven ability to create a Win / Win Procurement and Supply Chain Solution
• Experienced High Energy Price, Delivery and Contract Negotiator
• Knowledge pertaining to custom engineered systems in a project environment

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Able to work overtime as required
