Under direction of the Quality Manager, respond to and follow up on external customer concerns and Corrective Action Requests (CAR), representing the Voice of the Customer.
- Coordinate Measurement Machine operations, fixturing and programming; Contracer fixturing and programming.
- Assemble, review, and approve production part approval process (PPAPs).
- Assist in development, maintenance, and audit of process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA)/Control Plan.
- Apply problem solving methodology (8D, 3-Legged, 5-Why); Champion metrology for new programs and replacements/additions to current programs and the training of Operators and Inspectors.
- Issue internal CARs and supplier CARs (SCARs), follow-up to ensure closure, updating database system.
- Engage with suppliers to improve performance; Analyze statistical data and make recommendations for process adjustments / improvements.
- Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of lean operating principles.
- Participation in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement.
- Administer Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies.
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Domestic travel required up to 5%.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or closely related engineering field and one (1) year of Project or Quality engineering experience. Experience must include:
One year of experience with each of the following:
o statistical mathematics (standard deviation, probability distribution, and capability analysis).
o analytical problem solving and corrective action management.
o metal forming, machining, welding, and basic assembly principles; and,
o automotive quality control systems.
Demonstrated knowledge* of:
o Lean Manufacturing principles and best practices;
o 5S ideologies.
o Gage R&R requirements.
o Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques consistent with ASME Y14.5.
o Kaizen, Kanban, Computer Aided Drafting, and experience with IATF 16949 requirements; and,
o Quality software applications and statistical software.
