Furniture 4PL Project Manager – OCONUS Japan

 

 JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Administration- Sales

Location: Durham, NC; Remote position - Japan 

Reports to: Furniture Program Manager

 

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

MUST BE CURRENTLY LOCATED IN JAPAN: Works cross-functionally within all divisions of LCI as well as externally with all furniture manufacturer partners, in support of the multi-million-dollar 4PL Marine contract and GSA schedule sales program. This role requires wide latitude in determining approaches and solutions to critical assignments. In addition, role requires associate be able to make independent decisions on a dynamic basis with the objective of maintaining contract timelines and providing an excellent customer experience. The OCONUS Project Manager will work in partnership with the 4PL Furniture team on furniture projects that require “white glove service”. These projects require varying levels of coordination as well as dedicated project management. This person will also be responsible for identifying and seeding new furniture opportunities. This role is pivotal in strengthening client relationships, ensuring seamless execution of projects and upholding our commitment to excellence.

BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Must be able to establish and maintain professional rapport with all Department heads, co-workers, customer accounts and vendors.

 

SUPERVISION REQUIRED

Limited supervision.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

High School Diploma.

Associates degree or higher in Business or Marketing, and or military service, a plus

 

TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Dynamics AX, a plus
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and customer service skills
  • Japanese language skills a plus!!!

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

3-5 years’ experience:

  • In support of federal and or military solution sales that involve project management, communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding of GSA Schedules and corresponding FAR’s
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Ability to independently make decisions & make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Conversational Japanese strongly preferred!

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Yes, as needed. Primarily between Okinawa and mainland Japan

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act independently and proactively to seed and identify opportunities for new business with existing and potential customers.
  • Pre-Qualify initial inquiries & leads for furniture projects and solution opportunities
  • Advance opportunities through LCI internal and partnership communications to include next steps and clear expectations with all parties, from identification to payment.
  • Acting as point of contact throughout project life cycle. Regular inspection, calls and or meetings as needed to confirm that all next steps are advancing and sales cycle flow is moving forward with no obstacles; Trouble shooting, remediation of any challenges and consistent timely communication with 4PL furniture team.
  • Successful completion training via LCI furniture vendor partner to ensure the ability to conduct site surveys. Site Surveys defined as measuring areas, obtaining floor plans, taking pictures, creating rough floor plan drawings.
  • Participate in customer project planning, design and execution tracking meetings.
  • Participate in scheduling and coordinating installation activities with customers, vendor partners, and building resources
  • Participate in requesting, managing and tracking the 4PL furniture container program for Japan
  • Meeting and checking in containers upon arrival, when needed.
  • Assistance with coordination and scheduling of installation activities such as base access with pass and ID when required.
  • Audit ongoing project and solution timetables committed to by all parties are observed and honored. Should changes be required, that they be communicated in a timely way with LCI customer and location managers.
  • Partnering with 4PL furniture program team on project reporting, including project trackers on a daily and weekly basis, ensuring service excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with Furniture Program Manager, Servmart associates, manufacturer partner associates, to determine when/how new products or solutions should be introduced to grow LCI project and solution business.
  • Maintain continual Servmart manager and team contact to ensure satisfaction and keep lines of communication open for growth opportunities.
  • Building relationships with LCI external and internal customers
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in varied office environments. On Site, visits during customer installation project execution stage, may be construction environments. The employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk. lift and use hands. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to work in all-weather conditions
  • When project managing, will be working in construction environment.
  • Practice LCI safety processes and guidelines
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation.
