Job Description - Senior Aircraft Acquisition Representative

The Aircraft Acquisition Representative (AAR) is a subject matter expert in vendor oversight. As an induvial contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment and is responsible for providing technical expertise and oversight as the main liaison between Alaska Airlines (AS), manufacturers, leasing companies, and other airlines to ensure the quality of new airplanes.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in vendor oversight and provide liaison between Alaska Airlines (AS) and the manufacturer of new aircraft and related equipment during production and delivery, analyzing technical proposals and performing other administrative assignments as required.
  • Facilitate the coordination of Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE) to meet the aircraft manufacturer's schedules. Accomplish review and acceptance of BFE as received by aircraft manufacturer.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, establish and maintain remote Alaska Airlines’ offices in support of new aircraft reviews (surveillance), oversight, and delivery (Factory and Boeing Delivery Centers).
  • Accomplish factory customer review Installation Plans (IP’s) on the ground and in-flight, including updates or corrections to the Customer Review package. Assure proper corrective actions taken on noted defects found on customer acceptance inspections, defect buy-backs, and delivery activities (including Customer Walk and Customer Flight) prior to final delivery.
  • Participate in technical acceptance meeting, fully granting acceptance of the aircraft into AS’ fleet.
  • Analyze Boeing Customer Notification System (CNS) data and trends and partner with Boeing on process improvements.
  • Responsible for maintaining Non-Conformance Records(NCR) disposition in the system in a timely manner.
  • Track and trend NCR findings with timely feedback to AS quality and reliability departments. Facilitate corrective action(s) with the manufacturer. Partner with AS Engineering for disposition of MRB log findings.
  • Provide oversight of third-party company used to augment AS surveillance requirements.
  • Develop a “scorecard” that tracks vendor’s performance with periodic feedback for corrective actions.
  • Review aircraft post-delivery 30/60/90-day performance data. Adjust inspection criteria as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with SMS and AS safety policies and procedures as well as Federal Regulations by reporting any safety or potential hazard.
  • Manage and process change proposals initiated by the manufacturer ensuring compliance with configuration and budget.
  • Attend and participate in meetings led by manufacturers and leasing companies staying abreast on issues and schedules.
  • Collaborate with supplier partners with resolution of issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Required

  • 4 years of experience of aircraft heavy maintenance, inspection, or maintenance control.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Airframe and Powerplant license or ability to obtain within six months of start date.
  • A strong focus on safety and compliance.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and oversight functions.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal (both informal working teams and formal executive presentations), and in clear, concisely written documents.  
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with self-directed decision-making confidence and limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Ability to analyze data for trends with feedback to manufacturer, Alaska Airlines Quality Assurance Team, and Reliability teams.
  • Travel approximately 10-50% of the time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

$151,300 - $168,000 / year



Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
