We are a diverse team of highly qualified RF systems engineers and mission subject matter experts (SMEs) with backgrounds in electrical, mechanical, RF, hardware, software, firmware, and systems engineering, working together within a creative, innovative, and highly collaborative culture, to deliver cutting edge solutions for our customers. To do this, we hire people with a passion to succeed. We look for problem solvers. People who have unique perspectives and diverse experience.

Are you in?

Do you work well in a team environment and on your own as an individual contributor? Do you know how to set the bar high and achieve goals for yourself and bring others along with you? Do you work hard and play hard? Do you want to help the company succeed and build your skill set and further your career at the same time? Azure Summit Technology just might be the place for you.

What do we do?

Azure Summit Technology provides a wide range of multi-channel, software-defined radio solutions for applications including surveillance, communications, radar, direction finding, emitter location, and interference cancellation. Systems can be tailored to meet a variety of requirements for bandwidth, dynamic range, number of channels, and computational resources. Supported platforms range from resource-constrained small UAVs and wearable devices to manned aircraft and submarines. Azure also offers innovative signal processing solutions to challenging problems in the realm of radio frequency spectrum awareness.

What will you do?

Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking a Senior RF Electronics Design Engineer. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team. This position is located on-site at our Melbourne, FL, facility, with overnight travel to Fairfax, Virginia, Baltimore, Maryland, and other locations as needed. Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:

The Senior RF Electronics Design Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of Azure’s complex PCBs and PCBAs. This individual will work with design engineering, Firmware engineering, software engineering, and various vendors to develop complex RF and mixed-signal circuit boards from prototype to full-rate production.

Responsibilities for this job may include:

  • Must have a deep understanding of RF/Microwave engineering (i.e., strong theoretical knowledge, experience designing RF/Microwave circuits at the PCB level, and experience making precision RF measurements) and be able to successfully apply said knowledge in the design, development, and testing of complex mixed-signal PCBAs.
  • Ability to Architect the RF electronics portion of any new PCB design based on requirements. This involves selecting the major RF components, i.e., amplifiers, mixers, PLLs, filters, attenuators, switches, limiters, etc.… and capturing them on a block diagram. In the schematic capture phase, the candidate must also be able to select the lower-level components and capture them on a schematic. This includes support circuitry such as power management, clocking, and digital controls.
  • Perform electronics circuit card designs using electrical design and analysis tools, including, but not limited to, block diagrams, schematic capture, and circuit simulations. Be responsible for guiding PCB layout and verifying the final design before release. Knowledge of Cadence OrCAD schematic capture and Allegro layout is preferred.
  • Ability to work with the PCB fab house to successfully manufacture the bare PCB and must be able to work with the assembly house to successfully assemble the PCBA.
  • Candidate must have analytical design experience using software and simulation tools such as Genesys, AWR Microwave Office, ADS, CST, Complex Excel Spreadsheets, and HFSS. Experience with Genesys RF software is a plus.
  • Must have Experience with RF test equipment such as: high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
  • Must have experience with RF devices with control interfaces such as SPI, I2C, Parallel, etc.… and be able to work with a digital engineer to debug these interfaces, i.e., use an oscilloscope to debug such device control interfaces.
  • Must be able to design power management circuitry to support RF and mixed-signal circuits with specific concern for low noise designs and proper thermal management.
  • Experience with Digital RF concepts and designs (i.e., high-speed data converters, FFTs, Nyquist, etc.…). Must be able to work with digital engineers in the selection and design of high-speed data converters and the specification and design of anti-aliasing filters.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary cross-functional team, e.g., systems engineers, software and firmware engineers, mechanical engineers, etc… e.g., working with mechanical engineers on PCB-level mechanical RF shielding and complex assemblies.

Basic Requirements

  • US citizenship, due to the nature of the work and contract requirement
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance, due to contract requirement
  • 15 years of electronics design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or another relevant field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
