Senior Purchaser

Join Valley Fab Corp, a leading full metal fabrication shop located in Brooks, Oregon. We specialize in creating irrigators, composters, truck beds, and structures for the cellular tower industry. We are currently seeking a Senior Purchaser to lead our purchasing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic sourcing, supply management, long-term contract negotiation, supplier evaluation, and purchasing duties for existing commodities and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. This role is integral to our mission of delivering high-quality products to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with manufacturers and suppliers to achieve best total cost of ownership for procured materials/services/tooling.
• Lead a team of buyers purchasing raw materials, electrical, mechanical, and other parts.
• Ensure orders are placed in a timely manner and communicate supplier performance.
• Evaluate, mitigate, and communicate financial risks to the company.
• Resolve supplier issues using Root Cause & Corrective Action techniques.
• Guide new supplier development and selection.
• Drive cost reduction projects to meet company material spend reduction targets.
• Oversee supplier contract management including long term agreements.
• Conduct factory audits and supplier business reviews.
• Implement and maintain special purchasing programs with suppliers.
• Optimize material availability while minimizing total cost through the product life cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in supply chain in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, automotive, or steel preferred).
• Proven ability to write reports, business correspondence, and operating procedures.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and various MRP software platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation skills and extensive knowledge of contract law.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $60,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
