As a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) administrator, you play a crucial role in assisting with the managing of a classified platform that enables developers to build, deploy, and manage applications without dealing with the underlying infrastructure complexities. This role will also serve as a primary data transfer officer and software license admin a program supporting role. Duties & Responsibilities


FUNCTIONS • Oversee the entire PaaS infrastructure, ensuring its availability, scalability, and performance meet the needs of developers and applications.
• Handle the deployment and configuration of PaaS services, ensuring they are properly set up and integrated with other systems.
• Implement and maintain security measures to protect the PaaS environment from threats and vulnerabilities. This includes access control, encryption, and compliance with security standards.
• Monitor the health and performance of the PaaS environment, diagnosing and resolving any issues that arise. This may involve working with helpdesk associates to ensure monitoring tools, logs, and analytics are utilized to identify problems and optimize performance.
• Assist with the management, allocation, and utilization of resources such as computing power, storage, and networking to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity in case of emergencies.
• Provide support to users, and developers using the PaaS platform, helping them troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and make the most of available services. You may also conduct training sessions to educate users on best practices and new features.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, continually evaluating and implementing improvements to the PaaS environment to enhance its capabilities and efficiency. SOFTWARE LICENSE ADMINISTRATION • Source, negotiate, and procure software licenses required by various departments within the organization. Coordinate with vendors to obtain the best terms and pricing for software licenses.
• Maintain accurate records of all software licenses owned by the organization, including license agreements, renewal dates, and usage terms. Implement and manage a centralized license management system to track license allocations and usage across departments.
• Ensure compliance with software usage agreements and licensing terms. Monitor software usage to identify any instances of non-compliance or potential license violations. Take appropriate actions to rectify non-compliant usage and mitigate associated risks.
• Analyze software license utilization data to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings. Optimize license allocations and usage to minimize unused or underutilized licenses and maximize ROI on software investments.
• Manage the renewal process for software licenses, ensuring timely renewal of licenses to prevent disruptions to business operations. Evaluate renewal options and negotiate renewal terms with vendors to obtain favorable pricing and conditions.
• Establish and maintain relationships with software vendors and resellers. Serve as the primary point of contact for license-related inquiries and negotiations. Collaborate with vendors to address any issues related to software licenses and ensure vendor compliance with contractual obligations.
• Prepare for and facilitate software license audits conducted by software vendors or regulatory authorities. Ensure that all necessary documentation and evidence of license compliance are readily available and accurately maintained.
• Work with customers and appropriate approvers to ensure new versions of software get approved in a timely manner in order to keep software matched to the corporate environment. DATA TRANSFER • Responsible for securely transferring data between systems, locations, or organizations while ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant regulations. The role will involve coordinating data transfer processes, implementing security protocols, and troubleshooting issues to ensure the efficient and secure exchange of information.
• Coordinate and facilitate the transfer of data between internal systems, external partners, or third-party vendors. Collaborate with stakeholders to determine data transfer requirements, establish transfer protocols, and ensure timely delivery of data.
• Implement security measures to protect data during transfer processes. Utilize encryption, access controls, and other security protocols to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor data transfer processes to ensure they are completed successfully and in accordance with established protocols. Identify and address any issues or discrepancies that arise during data transfer activities. Generate reports on data transfer performance, errors, and compliance status.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to data transfer, such as connectivity problems, data corruption, or transmission errors. Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, or service providers to diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate documentation of data transfer processes, including transfer protocols, data mappings, security configurations, and compliance requirements. Ensure adherence to data privacy regulations, contractual agreements, and organizational policies.
• Identify opportunities to optimize data transfer processes, enhance security measures, and improve efficiency. Stay informed about emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends related to data transfer and data security. CYBER SUPPORT • Assist in performing continuous monitoring tasks and prepare documentation for assigned systems in support of Authorizations to Operate (ATOs). Perform Security control assessments as part of Continuous Monitoring NIST SP 800-53 V4 compliance sustainment for application, infrastructure, and network.
• Maintain required mandatory certifications as necessary to support assignment as a privileged user and sustain DoD IA training and certification requirements IAW DoD 8570.1M.
• Assist in the development, documentation, and support of user training plan(s).
• Proactively look for ways to better apply technology to the organization's primary mission; answer questions, resolve problems, and communicate changes in software and operations.
• Work with lead and senior ISSOs to evaluate the impact of system and network changes; prepare documentation to support re-approval of the security packages as appropriate.
• Assist in performing administrative tasks for systems, including data backup support, system security, and user account management support.
• Assist in providing support for servers, network and desktop hardware, software, and applications. Monitor the day-to-day activities on system and document changes as required.
• Assist with hardware and software roll-out to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
• Assist in hands-on cable routing and hardware maintenance.
• Assist in gathering data pertaining to software packages for assigned systems that will be used to maintain lists of software and hardware and update documentation.
• Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications


REQUIRED • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 2-4 of experience as an Administrator on server-based systems, software installation and troubleshooting experience.
• Specialized certification and compliance in accordance with DoD 8570.1M. Candidate must achieve certification.
• Experience with license management tools and software asset management (SAM) practices.
• Basic familiarity with RMF and ATO processes.
• Familiarity with Windows desktop, Windows Server, Linux OS.
• Familiarity with ICD 503, DoD 8570.1M, and the RMF.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, and server and desktop technologies.
• Familiarity with auditing processes.
• Facilitation and change management skills.
• Ability to interact with personnel from other engineering and technical disciplines both inside and outside of the company, including systems engineers, electrical engineers, designers, drafters, and hardware vendors.
• Ability to perform technical surveys and organize/resolve technical issues.
• Willingness to work non-standard work schedules, such as off-hour backups and system upgrades.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• Fitness for special background investigation (SBI).
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance. DESIRED • Experience with large-scale commercial and/or military systems.
• Knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
