Job Description



RR Donnelley is looking for an experienced operations leader to join our packaging leadership team. The successful candidate must reside in the central or eastern time zone and must have Folding carton and/or corrugated packaging experience.

The Business Unit Senior Vice President is responsible for directing and delivering on product and service quality requirements of our clients. They provide strategic direction to the Facility/Site Leaders for the business. As such, the Ops Leader should be adept at developing tactical action plans based on the ability to assess current and future market opportunities, identify client trends, evaluate our current capabilities, and achieve defined financial targets.

Responsibilities:

    • Development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan and set clear operational equipment performance standards and operating cost objectives
    • Collaborate with the Business Unit Leadership Team to develop and implement effective solutions to business challenges
    • Development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
    • Understand client needs and develop effective strategies to improve upon existing capabilities/solutions and develop new capabilities/solutions
    • Understand initiatives driven by functional process leaders (e.g. Finance, HR, IT, Legal) and collaborate to bring business perspective and support the overall approach
    • Drives partnership with facility leaders and corporate EHS staff to build an organization that ensures the work environment is safe for all employees
    • Ensure proper equipment and people efficiency measurement systems
    • Establish standard business processes across the delivery platform
    • Ensure alignment between Client needs and internal operational capabilities
    • Work with Sales Management to understand the business value proposition and its impact on the operational platform
    • Collaborate with other RRD businesses to understand companion offerings
    • Oversee the P&L to meet financial objectives set forth in the budget and forecast
    • Work with the Finance Leader to identify cost problem areas and participate in the annual operating plan/budget and forecasting process
    • Collaborate to set objectives and KPIs to monitor capacity management and utilization
    • Provide input into the pricing strategy based on optimizing equipment and people

Required Skills:

    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control to drive operational improvement
    • Experience with the use of continuous improvement tools (i.e. Six Sigma, PVR and SPC)
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style Deep understanding of accounting, reporting and annual budgeting Excel at operating in a fast paced, community environment
    • High sense of urgency
    • Willingness to Travel (approximately 50%)
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to listen for understanding
    • Proven experience overseeing and guiding the management of staffing, budgets and other fiscal operations impacting the P&L; financial acumen – can assess revenue and cost drivers of a business
    • Consistent achievement of revenue and margin goals for area of accountability
    • Demonstrated success in strategic thinking and execution
    • Creative problem solving and analytical mindset
    • Experience in developing Strategic plans
    • Goal orientation focused on business performance and success metrics
    • Ability to implement significant change and be effective in a short period of time, pushing the organization for ongoing change at a strong pace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in printing, engineering, business, or related area required. Master's degree is preferred 
  • 10+ years of Folding Carton and/or Corrugated Packaging operations experience to include multi-plant leadership 
  • At least eight (8) years of demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff, groups and major projects or initiatives 
  • Unquestionable personal and professional character and integrity.
  • Experience in the use of Continuous Improvement tools required
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Strong project planning and team facilitation skills
  • Excellent business acumen
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Additional Information



The national pay range for this role is $180,000 to $340,000 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package.
