Position Purpose

Improve Systems & Equipment Reliability on assigned process, reduce system/equipment downtime on assigned process, & support operation of assigned process.

Accountabilities

  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures in performance of assigned duties
  • Support the development & establishment of welding & pipefitting procedures, improvement projects & parts/consumables lists for processes assigned.
  • Read and interpret drawings & piping documents (P&ID’s, Isometrics, GA’s, Tie-ins List)
  • Determine appropriate welding program and method based on requirements
  • Set up components for orbital welding according to project specifications
  • Weld components using manual and orbital welding systems
  • Perform visual examination of welds
  • Understand and perform purging and pressurization of systems
  • Ability to work extended shifts &/or weekends
  • Ensure all welding/pipefitting activities are correctly documented in SAP/Qdocs
  • Contribute to growth & development of the plant support engineering team by training fellow technicians in areas of expertise as well as learning new systems
  • Complete design of piping general arrangements layouts, piping isometrics, support details, equipment location plan and orientation drawings
  • Able to sketch/produce isometric drawings including plans, sections, elevation, details, and layout.
  • Field-verify isometric drawings upon fabrication and installation of piping
  • Field-coordinate projects with company employees and trades in the field
  • Collaboration and troubleshooting with Plant Support Engineering Engineers
  • Other accountabilities as assigned 

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in relevant field or equivalent military/industry training, which includes a thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical & control systems
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting. Supports & actively participates in event response activities for the process. Documents problems & works to bring them rapidly to solution

Desired Qualifications

  • Able to provide valid welding test center certification, company test record certification, or demonstrate welding field performance test
  • Experience with automated records systems such as SAP
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams & other technical documents
  • Computer literacy
  • Experience in planning/organizing work, managing execution, checking results & revising the work plan in accordance with the daily work plan

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Ability to work in & around an active construction site during project phase
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to work in confined spaces & near operating equipment
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials including sanitants
  • Ability to work hours necessary to support production
  • Ability to stand on feet up to 12 hours or longer, day or night
  • Corrected vision to 20/30
  • Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
