Job Description - Coordinator of Communications and Digital Media

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under the direction of the Parish Administrator and in collaboration with the Pastor, provides strategic communications and marketing direction and support for St. Patrick Catholic Community and manages parish communication through multiple media platforms.

DUTIES OF THE JOB:

Coordinates the communication needs of St. Patrick. Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates a parish wide communication & branding strategy and policy for the parish. Develops, maintains, coordinates, and evaluates a parish wide Social Media strategy and policy for the parish. Supervises the Coordinator of A/V Ministries. Develops and coordinates, in collaboration with the Coordinator of A/V Ministries, a Media Ministry that can provide staff and ministry leaders with communication tactics, support, and projects that inform and inspire engagement. Creates and manages master communications calendar to ensure efficient and harmonious message dissemination. Manages program marketing through various media outlets and leads Public Relations effort to proactively place stories and gain media coverage for newsworthy events. Coaches staff and ministry leaders in effective Parish communications. Performs any other tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Parish Administrator or Pastor. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB (Individual): On a daily basis, works with colleagues to elicit ideas for content, and collaborates with the Parish Administrator and Coordinator of A/V Ministries, on the ongoing development and execution of communication, social media, marketing and online strategies. Supervises media interactions on website, social media, and other interactive digital platforms. Compiles reports on trends across all media involving St. Patrick. Works with the Parish Administrator to standardize processes for responding to inquiries, complaints, and other interactions. Updates and maintains St. Patrick Website. Works collaboratively with Parish Administrator, Pastor, Coordinator of Parish Records, Rock Assistant, staff and ministries to keep content current, fresh and a tool for evangelization. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB (As Supervisor of Digital Media): Produces, in collaboration with staff and ministry leaders, proactive communications to key audiences i.e. ministry leader update, weekly parish email blast, video announcements, pre-mass slides, podcasts, special programming, etc. Provides strategic direction for 'St. Patrick Studio.' Collaborates with the Coordinator of A/V Ministries for effective communication. In collaboration with the Coordinator of A/V Ministries, develops and archives media of church history including pictures, newsprint and online sources. Upon request, helps develop flyers, PowerPoint/Google Slide presentations and other media for staff/ministries. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Degree/experience in communications, social media management, marketing, and/or journalism preferred. Proficient user and developer of social media, including emerging platforms; at least 2+ years experience in the execution of social media strategies for a company or organization. Proficient in a wide variety of software platforms including but not limited to: WordPress, Google/Gmail, all elements of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Marq (Lucid Press), and MailChimp. Knowledge of Rock RMS, Lava, CCS, Liquid, and HTML a plus. Knowledge of video editing software such as Final Cut or Premier helpful. Ability to work in complex detail oriented environment. Ability to work from any location via remote connection. Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally. Complete and maintain Diocesan Safe Environment Training as required by the Diocese. Knowledge of Catholic Church vision, teachings, structure and policies helpful. Participate in staff activities, days of prayer and staff development. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License and own personal transportation. Employee is subject to Diocesan and parish personnel policies prescribed for all personnel.
