The Sr Engineer - T&D plans, coordinates, and executes projects through all phases of the product life cycle.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Under supervision, perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity.
  • May be responsible for managing multiple projects.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
  • Consult with supervisor, Product-Line Design, and other departments to execute job assignments consisting of testing of heavy-duty vehicles and associated equipment according to the needs of the project.
  • Recommend what equipment resources are necessary to accomplish the test.
  • Assist in formulating project estimates.
  • Assist in creating test plans and implementing them via communication to subordinate engineers and technicians.
  • Recommend design for complex test fixtures and apparatuses according to test requirements. Analyze engineering parameters associated with both the fixture and the item being tested.
  • Supervise construction and development of test fixtures.
  • Coordinate, supervise and monitor progress of testing.
  • Recommend corrective actions needed to maintain schedule and cost targets.
  • Communicate the status and results of tests as needed.
  • Research customer specifications, design validation requirements, field failures, and to recommend a course of testing.
  • Perform appropriate analysis and/or tests to ensure performance, durability, and safety criteria are met.
  • Survey plans, concepts, and findings clearly and concisely by means of drawings, sketches, and oral and written communication.
  • Work well and serve in a team environment.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with Oshkosh Corporation departmental staff including Product-Line Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Marketing as well as with vendors and consultants.
  • Utilize various state-of-the-art engineering tools, i.e., a personal computer (PC), and data acquisition systems in assigned projects as applicable.
  • Supervise testing as required.
  • Direct support of customers and test programs, to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to accomplish assigned engineering programs.
  • Ability to travel 10%.
  • Lead Prototype team member safety discussions/Signoff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment.
  • Experience with developing test plans.
  • Familiar with conducting tests and post processing data.
