Job Description - HR Specialist

Position Overview

The Novelis HR Services team is seeking a HR Specialist to join a team redefining the HR operating model and directly supporting employee life cycle activities and processes from recruiting to retirement . In this critical role, the selected candidate will report to the HR Services Lead and be a part of a dynamic team of HR professionals focused on delivering excellence and driving engagement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of HR services including moderately complex employee lifecycle transactions, applying case management tools to resolve advanced HR, employee, and manager queries with high levels of customer satisfaction, and performing data entry related to employee administration for Novelis locations across the US and Canada. This position will act as a main point of interaction for HR, employees, and managers and as a knowledgeable, trusted, and accurate partner who is responsible for providing superior customer service as part of the employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform HR administrative services for diverse groups of internal customer groups including HR, Managers, and Employees
  • Complete assigned work within agreed upon timeframe and service level agreements
  • Adhere to predefined processes and procedures following guidance outlined in standard operating procedures and knowledge bases
  • Apply required technology and tools to process requests, complete data entry and complete payroll procedures for salary and/or hourly employee groups
  • Operate in adherence to Company policy, legislation, and Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on Novelis HR policy and practice
  • Coordinate and facilitate local new hire orientation, communication and survey administration

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field. Equivalent work experience acceptable.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in HR, HR operations, or a related functional area
  • Solid understanding of HR processes and procedures, including employee onboarding, offboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, and data management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing for effective communication with employees at all levels of the organization including facilitation of training and orientation
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with HR systems
  • Basic understanding of employment laws and regulations to ensure HR activities adhere to legal requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Human Resources information systems (HRIS) and technologies such as PeopleSoft, ServiceNow, iCIMS, UKG
  • Previous experience working in an HR shared service center or similar model, where HR services are provided to multiple business units or locations
  • Ability to identify process inefficiencies and suggest/implement improvements to enhance HR service delivery and operational effectiveness
