About KIPP TEAM & Family

KIPP TEAM & Family is our network office that includes support teams - such as Leadership Development, Recruitment, Advocacy, Facilities, Finance, HR and more - dedicated to empowering our schools and ensuring the success of KIPP students throughout New Jersey and Miami. Our schools are part of the nationally recognized “Knowledge Is Power Program” network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students for success in college and in life. The first KIPP New Jersey school opened in Newark in 2002 and since then our school network has expanded to educate 8,135 students in grades K-12. By 2025, KIPP New Jersey will provide a world-class education to over 10,300 students across fifteen schools in Newark and five in Camden. 

In 2018, we grew our KIPP community in response to a need for high-quality school options for students in Greater Miami’s Urban Core communities. That led to the creation of KIPP Miami, which currently educates more than 1,000 students in four schools, with plans to reach 5,800 students by 2025. By offering highly effective educators with strong bonds to families, more time in school learning, services that support a variety of student needs, and a culture focused on achievement, our students in New Jersey and Miami are on the path to and through college, career, and choice-filled lives.

Job Description



Here's what you need to know

The Managing Director of Marketing, Communications, and Enrollment will lead efforts to attract prospective students and staff, build the KIPP brand, and manage internal and external communications at KIPP TEAM & Family (KIPP New Jersey + KIPP Miami). Reporting to the Co-President and working closely with the COO, this role requires collaboration with senior leadership and various teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in performance marketing, branding, communications, and operations.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Marketing and Recruitment Strategy

  • Lead and implement marketing strategies for student and staff recruitment.
  • Partner with the Talent Team to meet staff hiring goals.
  • Manage media buys and creative development with media partners.
  • Track applicant acquisition costs and develop e-marketing strategies.
  • Develop systems to support application conversions and registration in collaboration with the COO and Managing Directors of Operations (MDOs).
  • Create analytics infrastructure to monitor marketing efforts.

Communications Strategy

  • Develop internal and external communication strategies.
  • Provide transparent updates on marketing investments and brand health.
  • Lead crisis communications and act as the organization’s spokesperson as needed.
  • Coordinate media training and press strategies.
  • Manage content for KIPP NJ and Miami websites.

Enrollment Systems and Structures

  • Streamline enrollment systems across regions.
  • Lead CRM and registration system deployment.
  • Establish standards and communication expectations for student recruitment.
  • Ensure compliance with state enrollment submissions and set enrollment targets.

Brand Strategy

  • Develop and implement brand strategies to build the KIPP brand.
  • Lead brand awareness campaigns and support Development team materials.
  • Elevate brand awareness and ensure brand standards are upheld.
  • Manage marketing initiatives and measure brand impression.

Team Leadership

  • Directly manage three teams: Marketing, Communications, and Student Recruitment & Enrollment.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and support for team members.
  • Oversee budget and project management processes.

Qualifications



Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, business, operations management, or recruitment.
  • 3+ years of successful team management experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in omni-channel marketing and crisis communications.
  • Ability to build scalable systems and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • MBA.
  • Experience in school-based roles or Charter Management Organizations (CMOs).
  • Knowledge of HubSpot, PowerSchool, SchoolMint, and School Messenger.
  • Creative agency or strategy consulting experience.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Asana, and HubSpot.
  • Experience in digital marketing analysis and campaign analysis.
