Job Description - Mental Health Communication Strategist

Job Summary:

University Health Services is seeking a motivated Mental Health Communication Strategist to join our Marketing & Health Communications team. If you are passionate about supporting the mental health of college students and enjoy creative problem solving around effective messaging, this may be the position for you. The Mental Health Communication Strategist sets the agenda for mental health messaging on behalf of UHS. This person works collaboratively with mental health providers, practitioners, and communications colleagues to develop evidence-based health communication and marketing campaigns. This individual will organize and prioritize mental health campaigns in alignment with UHS-wide objectives. They will work closely with the Mental Health team and campus partners to plan and execute messaging related to the mental health promotion. Work will also involve coordination of UHS outreach efforts across UW-Madison.

Responsibilities:

Develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of unit communication goals.
  • 15% Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives
  • 20% Plans editorial content according to established goals and objectives
  • 15% Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • 30% Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • 20% Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in communication, public health, journalism, marketing, health education, sociology, psychology or related field. Preferred
Master's Degree in communication, public health, marketing, or related field.

Qualifications:

Required:
--Minimum of 1 year experience in writing, social media, communications, or producing content for promotional and informational purposes. Preferred:
--Knowledge of emerging mental health topics and trends
--Ability to work with clinicians and mental health providers
--Strong sense of initiative
--Strong oral and written communication skills
--Well-organized with experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines
--Ability to discuss and communicate sensitive health topics
--Comfortable researching and interviewing students on sensitive health topics
--Ability to think creatively in identifying and solving problems

Work Type:

Full Time: 100% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Monday - Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM

Salary:

Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
