PLEASE NOTE: This position is a remote position, however, a primary residence in California is required prior to starting at CHLA. All applicants that reside outside of California must be willing to relocate.
Designer I – Junior Graphic Designer

Candidates will need to submit a compelling portfolio that accurately reflects their skills and finalists will be required to complete a design task as part of the interview process.
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: A member of the Marketing Communications team, the Designer (Marketing) contributes to the visual identity of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This person will have the opportunity to develop and apply their design skills, work on diverse projects, and produce visual content that aligns with CHLA’s brand standards and strategic goals. The Junior Designer will also create templates and assist in templating content to ensure brand cohesion across internal and external marketing communications channels and tactics. This person will collaborate closely with other members of the design, video, content, communications, and marketing teams.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of paid experience as a designer in a professional setting.
• Experience in an academic medical center, university or other health care setting is a plus.
• Fundamental knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro).
• Familiarity with best practices in typography, layout, and a comprehensive understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles, with the ability to apply them effectively across various mediums such as print, digital, social media, product, and more.
• Demonstrated ability to work on several concurrent projects, prioritize multiple tasks across multiple teams, and work quickly with fast turnaround times.
• Must be a team player, proactive problem-solver and a quick learner.
• Strong attention to detail ensuring accuracy in design and adherence to brand guidelines.
• Proficiency using Mac hardware, operating systems and programs.
• Ability to accept constructive feedback.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Suite products (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive) and file-sharing programs such as Box.
• Compelling portfolio of completed design projects that accurately reflect your skills.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor’s degree or extensive coursework in Design, Visual Arts or relevant field.
