Research Assistant

Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Seeking a Research Assistant to conduct research projects and assist with research activities of the Millman Lab at Washington University School of Medicine. Our biomedical research laboratory uses human pluripotent stem cells for the study and treatment of diabetes. We have a wide diversity of projects involving stem cells differentiation, genetic engineering with CRISPR, disease modeling, transplantation into animal models of diabetes, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, and single cell sequencing technologies. Position assists with research study, experiments, preparation of material, and documentation. Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities * Conducts research experiments and assays.
* Evaluates research results, reporting findings and discussing project outcomes with staff involved.
* Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
* Performs tissue culture, including human embryonic stem cells.
* Complies with established safety procedures.
* Coordinates research project with other institutions and investigators.
* Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
* Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
* Performs literature research on specified topics.
* Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Preferred Qualifications * Willingness to work with mice.
* Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures, conduct research and record findings, with focus on pursuit of advanced education in field. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in laboratory operations or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 6 years. Grade R07-H Salary Range $16.76 - $28.51 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
